I disagree.

We can sit here and say “Look at what we voted for and we have no riots, no violence and no assaults on political opponents. Come join us and leave marxism behind.”

But you make the mistake that the 65% who voted for this can be swayed. They cannot. They are hardcore marxists who want to tear the system down. They justify violence against political opponents who support individual liberty and capitalism.

You are naive to believe you can sway them. Look at the corporations and individuals who jumped right on the BLM/ANTIFA bandwagon. These are intelligent people who saw what was happening, but joined the marxists anyway.

My single daughter just sold her house in Portland. Nothing to do with the riots, everything to do with the virus. Her live in boyfriend it turned out was bi-polar, they were to be married and he forgot to tell her about his ailment. Well the lockdown sent him into a manic state and they broke up, he moved out and two weeks later her 14 year old dog died.

She called her Realtor and said sell it. She got three offers in 5 days two of them $50,000 over asking price. She closed last week and has over $80,000 in her bank account, ready to travel, she works online only, and see where else she might want to buy, she may be done with Portland and she voted for the politicians in charge.

"Instead of turning them off, let’s try turning them on, and having them tune in."

I do understand the point.

However, it is necessary that all peoples, of jurisdictions, states, countries large and small, recognize that they don't get the government they want, they get the government they deserve.

Californians, New Yorkers, and Massholes move out of their sh*thole collectivist states because of certain policies, and then move and go and infect the remaining free areas of the country.

They don't see that THEY were what they wanted to leave. Making them aware of this is not task of being gentle.

Just as we should look with disdain upon Venezuelans' choice (even if by passive acceptance) of leadership, so to should we look upon the Portland voters, for example, with disdain. Should we look on each individual with disdain? Of course not. But as a group that together came up with their monster -> disdain.

It is not fair, but is a function of this mortal coil, that if you don't prevent the morons around you from acting moronically, you will find yourself all covered in their moronocy. Often that is violence. Fair? No. Did you do anything to deserve it? Well ... you didn't change it and you chose to stay and watch it develop, or you shielded your eyes. That 35% that may not have voted for what they got, did they FIGHT it? Or did they just sit there all innocent and passive while mold grew around them?

So it's true we should extend our invite to those with open eyes to join the free and not-moronic ... but so long as they remain ... the disdain is there not to punish them but to wake them the hell up.

We don't want their votes if it's going to drag us to the left. The ones that fight ... we'll take 'em!

It's not so much about blame or punishment as it is about opening one's eyes, waking up - seeing things as they really are.

Berating them, so long as that beration(?) is an effort to pry open their eyes rather than to simply be abusive ... well if that hurts them ... well I promise it hurts less than what awaits at the end of the passive path they are on.

I hear you but have very very very little patience for them. If their eyes aren't wide open, I say 'stay where you are and let the suffering wake you up.' That is, after all, the purpose of suffering. Pointing out WHY they suffer, for example, by saying 'you let this happen, in THAT sense you deserve it' ... that is merely pouring the cold water of enlightenment on their sleep heads.

But I get your point. And that may have been a little rant-ish of me and not necessarily addressed your specific points. If it didn't, then let this serve as acknowledgment that it may not have, and now, like the New York Times, I have placed a weaselly correction on page 26 :-)

We can control only what we can control...I can’t change the events in Portland, Seattle- only God can. God addresses this mayhem, paraphrased “ if you leave me, I will leave you to your own devices”, that said, his warning is unfolding with all to see, unfortunately it appears many have not been given the eyes to see and ears to hear. The events are a spiritual war and without addressing that fact the violence will continue. I do believe we are being prepared for a Revival, which in most cases happens only when a nation is brought to its knees.

Having lived in the People’s Republic of NY and having had this said to me and other good, conservative FReepers who are here for reasons we can’t always control, I agree with you.

It’s too much of a broad brush, much like the leftists do to conservatives and Trump supporters.

However, I would contend that come election times, those who continue to vote democrat, DO deserve what THEY get.

Everyone else gets caught in the fall out and has my sympathy.

Those who, at this stage in the game when the lines have been drawn and are so clear cut, continue to support the democrat party, don’t get any sympathy from me when things go south.

Read Daniel Horowitz’s, BLITZ.

Pray, fast, read The Bible. Listen to prophesy.

Praying for a change of heart for those in the Soro’s trap door on their way to hell. They should be protesting in hot areas to get the predestination mild heat.....Denver, Portland and LA are comfy!!!!!!!!!!!

America has been flirting with the rough number of close to half of brainwashed citizens and ILLEGALS as takers/dependent on government and who will never change who they are politically and are apathetic. Our elections are being decided by very slim margins and the left always has the advantage.

I am so tired of this nonsense. They are not incompetent politicians they are low level officers of a communist revolution. They command the foot soldiers of the revolution. The “protesters” are not protesters. They are not “rioters”. They are the soldiers of a communist revolution. What we are actually seeing is the revolutionaries honing their tactics and testing the mettle of those who might resist them.

The propaganda arm of this revolution is affectionately known as the mainstream media. Academia, totally controlled by communists, provides the fig leaf of legitimacy to the idea of Marxism. And it provides the indoctrination centers to brainwash our children and turn out more communist revolutionaries. The visible political arm of this revolution is the Democrat Party practicing sedition and subversion wherever it can. A massively corrupt federal justice system provides protection for the communists and actively persecutes anyone who would dare stand against the marxists.

While I have sympathy for the minority who votes against these bastards, I have NO sympathy for anyone who votes for democrats or supports their revolution in any way. To this author and others I say identify this activity for what it is, Revolution. Then advocate for the destruction of the Revolution. And holding those that support it accountable.

" have not voted our way in a long time, but are now ready to listen."

No. Those that you are dreaming are open to reason, are really blaming Trump for all of the Woo-Hoo Floo, and all of the rioting and looting and arson. At least, that's the way I see it.

I noticed you used the word “incompetent”. Was that intentional?
