I really don't see how teachers are going to earn back any respect at this point.

Teachers have become the enemy, and we allowed it. We let the left infest the university system, then we sat back as teachers were grossly underpaid, (not as bad in recent times). Teaching doesn’t attract the best and brightest, which is fertile ground for the left.

One key point about teachers unions——they have ways to insure that long standing incompetent teachers are kept through tenure and appeals processes.

Kids in their classes have to suffer but the teachers and union leaders keep smiling.

Can we count teachers arguments against home schooling/ alternative schools as another covid 19 death?

I am reminded of Napoleon’s sage advice, “Never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake.”

Teachers’ unions are destroying themselves. Let the self-destruction continue. In six months, nobody in America will support further paying these Marxist morons.

Militant public school teachers think America cannot survive without them. Boy, are they mistaken.

THERE ARE MANY PATRIOTIC AMERICANS FAR SMARTER THAN THESE TROUBLEMAKERS AND MORE CAPABLE OF TEACHING OUR YOUNG.

Those educated Americans who DO THE WORK in America are better prepared to teach young people because they can actually DO, not just teach. They have productive skills they have developed and are not just propagandists.

When you point all these things out to ‘them’ the first words are(snidely/sarcastically)
“Yes, EVERYTHING is a conspiracy” you can’t argue with that kind of mindset.

Most jurisdictions in my area had agreed on split classes etc but the union got it shut down to virtual.

Amazing how a Teachers Union in a NON UNION STATE can shut it down.

As if on CUE, the new tack is that closing the schools is hard on Special Interest Kids.

Hard telling what their ‘goal’ is (other than mass disruption) when they keep contradicting themselves.

They no longer have respect in Oregon after half the anti-fa rioters arrested were teachers and they SHOWED THEIR PICS in the news article. Obviously, they can’t work now because they are too busy rioting! After Biden loses, they won’t be able too work because they will be too busy looting, burning and blocking traffic for months. They deserve NO PAY or retirement collection if they are NOT WORKING.

Dear Lord Jesus, I pray to you that the Republican party can re-form itself into a party that could do something about this. That could use this crises and all the hysteria and all the feckless behaviour by these Commie Front Teachers’ Unions to GIVE THE MONEY TO THE PARENTS and thereby BREAK THE BACKS OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS UNIONS and thereby SAVE CIVILIZATION. This prayer I make to You, oh Lord.

Let 2020 mark the resumption of the HOME & CHRISTIAN SCHOOLING that was once the norm here before the Marxists captured the GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS!
The video at the link has some info parents of school age kids need BEFORE they ship them off to become the NEXT GENERATION of brainless vandals now tearing the country apart.

There are teachers and there are pawns of the teacher's union.

The teachers unions or “education associations” have been a strong lobby to higher pay, better working conditions and demanding states and local school districts throw untold amounts of money at schools and teachers. Their mantra has been if there is a problem, thrown more money at educations.

With most families of small children having to effectively either home school their children on their own this past spring, families are divided into two camps. Those that value education and are home schooling their children. The second is those who don't have the time, money, or energy to home school and are allowing their children to educationally fall behind.

Both groups have come to the conclusion that the school districts and their teachers don't really care about the education of their children during the Covid-18 closures. There are not many school districts that have communicated well with parent on education plans, lessons, computer software education that can be provided to the children.

As such, parents have come to the conclusion that schools and teachers “talk the talk, but don't walk the walk” of educating children. The teachers, their union and the school districts have shown their true colors.

I have watched the parents of my grandchildren take over the education of their children and found that their school district has done almost nothing to assist outside of some nice words.

As they are planning the education of my grandchildren this fall, their parents (my children) are complaining about how ill prepared the school district is for this fall and how teachers are not really providing much guidance. They are amazed that the teachers and school districts have done virtually nothing since last spring to prepare for this fall or to suggest resources for parents.

Some school districts may have better prepared, but that is not what I am seeing or hearing.

P.S. My wife was (and is still consulted with on various topics) an administrator at a university and the status of university preparation for instruction this fall is also in chaos. She has told me about tenured faculty, who have refused to modify how they will teach their courses, when the university administration has said they need to have maybe 80% of classes taught remotely.

Some Universities cannot afford the social distancing requirements to provide in-person learning opportunities, the janitorial Covid-19 daily sanitation requirements, or how to provide traditional services to students on campus. The lecture halls are way too crowded (every third row and every third or fourth chair in a row), the air ventilation systems are not COVID-19 compatible, to say nothing of the halls, elevators, stairwells.

Education will not be the same and that starts at the local K-12 schools. The educations system was not up to the challenge, parents have seen that the “commitment to educations” just isn't there and that the teachers are not the high morals spokespersons for children's educational needs.

Once again it’s the middle class suburban moms at fault here and I hope the teachers unions shut down the schools and make these folks suffer at home with their dysfunctional kids.

Trump and Republicans seem to be pushing back to in-person schooling.

They should be pushing homeschooling pods and the transfer of resources from Department of Education (Federal and state/local) to these pods.
