We all agree that the data is a mess but based on what the CDC is reporting, COVID-19 peaked in April this year and has been going down ever since.
The CDC reported data as of the middle of August related to COVID-19 and pneumonia deaths year to date. The most recent data shows as follows:
What we clearly see from the current data is that both COVID and pneumonia peaked in April. The increase of reported deaths in July was minor and certainly not a material event. Also, what is apparent from the data is that there are more pneumonia deaths to date this year (159,990) than COVID deaths (153,727). This is apparent in the chart as COVID deaths were not reported until March while pneumonia deaths started earlier in the year.
- Eighty-five percent of reporting jurisdictions report a steep decline in Wuhan virus cases, despite almost 70 million tests. This number of tests is greater than those administered in all of Europe combined.
- Nationwide, cases declined by 6%.
- Test positivity is 6.5%, which is a 71% reduction from April and a 15% reduction from mid-July.
- Hospitalizations have been halved since April.
- Nursing home and long-term care facilities have 1% of the U.S. population but account for almost 50% of fatalities.
- Retail spending is at an all-time high, with auto production alone surging 28%.
- The stock market is peaking again, and the NASDAQ is at an all-time high.
- China is struggling and has been buying massive amounts of corn, soybeans, and cattle from America.
- The administration continues to cut regulations.
- Small business optimism is higher than at any month in the Obama administration.
- Industrial production is increasing at the fastest rate ever recorded.
You really can’t believe almost anything reported in the MSM these days. They want Americans to believe that COVID-19 is getting worse all the time.
It is not.
The only economies which are not growing now in the greatest recovery ever are those in inner Democrat led cities and states. The rest of the US is in an economic rebound never seen before in history.

If that were true, doctors and nurses would have been dying en masse for decades. They throw their masks out every time they leave a patient. They dont wear the same mask all day long. People working in food service wear the same mask all day and are constantly touching it. Unless you throw out your mask every time you leave a store, you are just carrying around all the crap you picked up there.
If your mask has been exposed to the virus, then So have your eyes, your hair, your clothes, your hands, every square inch of your exposed skin.
Unless you throw out your mask and put it in a hazardous waste bin every time you come in contact with another human being, then you are a part of the problem, not the solution, If we are going to wear surgical masks, we need to follow hospital protocols. Nobody does.

Actually, it is precisely BECAUSE of controlling transmission of pathogens FROM doctor TO patient that doctors and nurses wear masks.
And yes, some people wear terrible masks, or wear them incorrectly, or don’t throw away disposable masks and regularly disinfect reusable ones. Some people also wear their seat belts wrong. Is that reason to tell everyone to stop wearing seat belts? Or should we simply fix the problem of some people doing it incorrectly?

The mask isn't primarily to keep you from coming into contact with SARS-CoV-2 infected respiratory droplets. As you correctly pointed out, it has very limited effect in doing so.
The point of the mask is to reduce the volume and range of respiratory droplets expelled from the nose and mouth of those who are infected; whether they know they're infected or not. Here's an image from a scientific study produced on mask effectiveness showing actual imaging of respiratory droplets expelled from the nose and mouth of a subject with and without a mask:
As you can see, there's a massive drop in the volume and range of the droplets released. The result of that is a vastly reduced chance that those droplets can reach an uninfected person and transmit the virus. The study is here

So wearing it outdoors or when alone is a complete and utter waste and could be dangerous to the person wearing it.
The MSM and Fauxchi would have us believe that wearing a mask will protect YOU.
Fake news. Its so that everyone will comply. They want a compliant populace.
Unless someone is coughing on you or sneezing on you or yelling in your face, wearing a mask accomplishes nothing more than showing the world that you are a sheep.

What that doesnt show is what happens to the virus particles when they manage to get inside your mask and you inhale them again and again all day while you wear it.

You missed the point, doctors don’t go to work sick and wear a mask when they are breathing out virus fumes. They stay home.
With covid we are told to wear a mask to protect others, especially when we are sick, in other words we keep rebreathing bad air.
Check out these studies;
“No masks were worn in one operating theatre for 6 months. There was no increase in the incidence of wound infection.”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2493952/
“MASK WIGGLING AS A POTENTIAL CAUSE OF WOUND CONTAMINATION” (now think about poor mask hygiene practiced by untrained and uneducated covid mask wearers)
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0140673676911016
“It has never been shown that wearing surgical face masks decreases postoperative wound infections. On the contrary, a 50% decrease has been reported after omitting face masks.”
“Masks may be used to protect the operating team from drops of infected blood and from airborne infections, but have not been proven to protect the patient operated by a healthy operating team.”

"So wearing it outdoors or when alone is a complete and utter waste and could be dangerous to the person wearing it."You were doing so well until you hit the bolded part. There is zero evidence anywhere to indicate any danger in wearing a mask. That's just fearmongering. The media is doing plenty of that already. They don't need others adding fuel to the fear factory.
"The MSM and Fauxchi would have us believe that wearing a mask will protect YOU."
Everyone wearing a mask DOES protect you. Reducing the transmission of a dangerous pathogen is helpful. If fewer people have it, fewer people are spreading it, and it's being spread to fewer people, which means that the risk of you getting it before a vaccine comes out is vastly reduced. THAT is how everyone wearing a mask protects you.
"Unless someone is coughing on you or sneezing on you or yelling in your face, wearing a mask accomplishes nothing"
No, all it takes is someone speaking, breathing, singing, yelling, coughing, sneezing, or anything else that involves forced exhalation within ~6 feet of you. Why 6 feet? Because respiratory droplets - which are the primary transmission source for COVID-19 and are >5-10um - fall to the ground quickly due to their weight. Thus, their typical travel distance is <6ft. However, in a grocery store or a subway car or a lot of other indoor public places, 6 feet is often a lot more space than you actually have between people.

You’ve posted some really interesting studies and I want to read through them before I comment any more, but I did at least want to respond and thank you for posting them.
To: dynoman
Vaping is primarily aerosols, which are <5um. Respiratory droplets (the primary transmission vector for SARS-CoV-2) are >5-10um.

All the amateur masks can do is stop gobs of phlegm. And if your are coughing or sneezing gobs of phlegm you should stay home.
I’ve been fit tested for PPE per OSHA standards my whole career, what I see in public is laughable. People are touching their masks all the time, they take them on and off thus loading them up with everything they have on their hands. That’s probably why cases surged along with mask mandates, and why people wearing masks get covid anyway.

The fact of the matter is that the world has overreacted to this virus on an unprecedented and dangerous scale. There is no actual evidence that wearing masks has prevented a single death. If there is give me the name of the person.

Proper mask use is;
1 clean gloves on
2 mask on
3 do your thing without touching mask
4 mask off and in garbage
5 gloves off and in garbage
6 Repeat for every mask use
How many people are doing that? Like none.
Here’s my defense;
1 distance
2 keep hands clean
3 keep surfaces clean
4 wear a mask if necessary
5 stay home if sick
Both my wife and I worked at our jobs though this whole covid thing without masks and without problems. No problems in the work places either, and I work at a 24/7/365 operation where we share work spaces.

That makes way too much sense...it’ll never happen. It should but it probably won’t.

Wait until flu season kicks in. Confusion on cause of death will heighten.
To: epluribus_2
Until July most were presummed.
Flu and CCP-19 present the same symptoms but, we didn’t have the ability to test most “cases” before July.

If that were true, doctors and nurses would have been dying en masse for decades.
Doctors and nurses (used to) only wear masks in an operating room, and maybe near a few particular patients. That was it, and it was only for a short time, couple hours at most, normally. Masks were trashed (contaminated) after use.
So that really doesn't relate at all to:
- People wearing masks 8-12+ hours a day.
- People using the same masks over and over.
- People not properly putting masks on or taking them off.
- People constantly touching or readjusting their masks.
- People using more restrictive masks than just plain surgical masks, which allow for ~60% of airflow around the edges.
- And so on.

lately we've been extremely busy at my hospital with many covid admits...however, the biggest problem is early on there were covid admissions all recovered who are just sitting in our hospital because these people are elderly or with dementia and their families will not take them back or the nursing homes refuse them...so they sit, while other people needing to be admitted sleep in the Er awaiting an open bed....
the panic demic is a vicious circle...

Yep, pneumonia is not a separate “on it’s own” disease/diagnosis...it is caused by an underlying virus, bacteria or fungus. COVID pneumonia is particularly nasty as it is a viral pneumonia...antibiotics are no help. So 95+% of pneumonia cases are COVID or regular flu related.
