The Wall Street Journals Bill McGurn said Friday its likely that Democrats are wondering who blabbed to U.S. Attorney John Durham after he announced that a top FBI lawyer would plead guilty to one count of altering evidence during the Russia probe into President Donald Trumps 2016 campaign.
His comments come a day after Durham, who was appointed by Attorney General William Barr last year to look into the origins of the so-called Spygate counterintelligence investigation, announced that former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith agreed to plead guilty to altering a FISA court application to spy on then-Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
During an interview with Fox News Bret Baier, McGurn was asked to respond to a series of video clips in which Democrats, including House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff of California and presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden, dismissed Durhams investigation as politically motivated.
Is that a risk? Baier asked McGurn....

I don't know if chickenhawks sing that much as far as birds go. Hopefully Clinesmith does.
Cant be. The news readers told us yesterday that this really wasnt a big deal...
They’re recruiting the hit men as we speak...
Post Novembers election, Trump and the newly elected Republican Congress need to do to the FBI what they did to the VA... make it easy to fire/remove the infesting Globalist antiI-Americans.
Nobody “blabbed” on Clinesmith. All the evidence against him was in his emails and the documents submitted to the FISA court.

Everybody on this site knew about it a few years ago.
My guess is that they squeezed him long enough to rat out the big players.
Clinesmith needs to be in protective custody - really, protective custody somewhere, not just some lockup in NYC where he can be whacked.
He needs to be in Gitmo or way down in the lowest basement of the Supermax until his plea deal and testimony are done.
Then he can go into witness protection... somewhere...
Adam Schiff apparently didn’t know.
Going to be very interesting to learn what Clinesmith told Durham about Schiff. Schiff should be very nervous.
Clinesmith’s lawyer approached Durham for the deal so ...
The dumb a** left a paper trail...They probably don’t even need to give him a “deal”. My guess is that he just didn’t want it to drag on and on in a trial.
I think the the fact Clinesmith got a plea bargain is because he gave up the those high up the chain. Andrew Weissmann is acting worried right now.
And some, perhaps, are hoping to make a deal to save their own sorry asses!
Think Durham already got all the info Clinesmith had.
That may be what’s making some of the coup plotters more than a little nervous.
Have read that on another FR thread.
Just curious, what is the source for that info?
OK, that makes sense.
In that case pay him a bonus, give him the all clear and tell him D.C is all his and to go live large for awhile...
If they hurry they can all get a deal and the only one who will see jail time will be some unpaid intern (who never knew anything) known to be a Republican who coincidentally used the same break room as some of the Leftist conspirators.
It’s pretty straightforward. Clinesmith didn’t falsify evidence and lie to the court on his own initiative and just for fun. He was acting on instruction as a member of a conspiracy. If he has cut a deal, presumably he has named names.
Former FBI lawyer to plead guilty in probe into origins of Russia investigationThe source said that Clinesmith's lawyer approached Durham's office about a deal after FBI records declassified by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence last month showed that Clinesmith was part of a team using a 2016 defensive briefing to track Russia questions from Flynn and then-candidate Trump. The source said the expectation is that Clinesmith will cooperate with Durham's investigation which is typical in plea deals. He is expected to be asked, regarding both the 2016 defensive briefing and the altered CIA email, whether he acted independently or at the direction of, or with the approval of his FBI leadership.
Was he dumb...or was he convinced that the conspiracy was so deep, conspirators so well distributed that he had nothing to worry about. He, and all involved, could say or do anything and there would be people in place to cover his tracks.
If it’s the latter, we’ve still got one mother of a national security threat from within.
He was depending on Hillary winning....just like everyone else....including Hillary.
