Same situation here - a county mandate with a health director who wants it statewide, but a GOP gov.
...and nobody has shown scientific data that masks are effective.

That “press conference” (or whatever it was, since they didn’t even take questions) was a disaster. Joe looked and sounded like his battery was just about dead when he feebly handed it off to the wise JamIndian, whereupon he accidentally put his mask over his eyes for a second before exiting. Then, Camel-a came out and looked weirdly uncomfortable. I don’t know if it finally dawned on her what she had gotten herself into, if Joe groped her earlier backstage, or what, but she was very visibly rattled by something.
Intended to cause more division and hopefully, violence.
I don’t like Biden but wearing masks during a pandemic is good sense. I wear one whenever I’m out of the house.
Today Trump did have a major achievement in brokering a peace deal between Israel and the UAE.
And in one fell swoop Biden blows it out of the headlines with mask stupidity.
I guess that works for the Dems.

I have my own reasons. I’ve been wearing one fairly regularly since October.
The Gov’s CAN legally enforce this. The Feds cannot.
People need to understand how government works.
Feel free to continue wearing one.
Nobody is stopping you.
Whether or not the government should have the power to
FORCE you to wear one is a serious debate.
Trump already made that recommendation.
I live in one of the most conservative (80%+ vote GOP) big counties in the country and masks are extremely common here. In fact you will get dirty looks if you don’t wear them. That said, I think that poll is likely very accurate.
With Fauci as the front man for the administration, the media was won the Covid propaganda war.

Apparently my governor can not because if you read his “order” carefully you come to know that it’s just a very sternly worded suggestion. Probably knows it would not hold up in court.

It's not about the masks.
It's about the fundamental belief in one-size-fits-all federal solutions to everything, versus the states as sovereign governments deciding what's best for themselves individually.
Biden and Harris believe in federal rule, Trump believes in states first.
