Good questions. I too purchased some of this on impulse for myself and family. I was holding onto it to use or give at the first signs of symptoms (loss of taste or smell). I look forward to the comments of FReepers!
Are you certain about this? Quercetin is found naturally in a lot of fruits, vegetables, and grains -- if this person's kidneys really did get aggravated by quercetin, he or she would have a greatly restricted diet...
EGCG from green tea extract does the same thing as quercetin.

You can drink a few teabags worth of green tea and get close to the dose of a single capsule of 50% EGCG.
If you can handle green tea, you can handle the EGCG capsule.
It sounds to me that you already have TOO MUCH information.
Zinc Quercetin by Sandhus. (Walmart/Walmart.com) $19.95 120 capsules, 60 day supply. (Amazon $24.95)
Take 2 vegetarian capsules per day (every day) = 22 mg Zinc and 800 mg Quercetin.
EGCG has 60% of the zinc ionophore activity of Chloroquine after four hours.
Bkmk. See where this goes.

Forgot to mention another alternative ‘protection’
Colgate Total mouth wash has cetylpyridinium chloride which protects against any covid that gets into mouth- it binds it or something, making it harder for the virus to replicate- it’s quick and easy step-
Colgate total professional mothwash has it, as does some Crest mouthwashes-
Can find it here:

Quercetin is a bioflavanoid. Should be taken with Vitamin C. You’re better off being on the iodine protocol which is iodine/iodide, selenium, vitamin C magnesium & salt. This is the protocol that protects against bacteria, fungus, viruses and cancer.
I’m taking 500 mg of quercetin and 50 mg of zinc each evening as the zinc doesn’t agree with me in the mornings. Additionally, I am taking vitamins C and D each day. Other than the zinc issue, I have had no side effects. Since this pandemic started, I haven’t missed a day of work nor have I worn a mask. I simply social distance, shop wherever and whenever I like, and have not a single soul comment on my lack of mask. (Although, I’m hearing there are many maskholes out there.)
Something new added to the mix recently.
A renowned Sydney doctor is urging health authorities to give vulnerable people infected with coronavirus a cheap and freely available drug that he believes is an effective cure.
Frontline medical workers should also be given it preventively to lower risk and in light of the large number who have contracted COVID-19 in Victoria, he argues.
Professor Thomas Borody, a gastroenterologist credited with developing a world-first cure for peptic ulcers, saving countless lives, has stepped up his advocacy for what he believes is the answer to Australias COVID-19 crisis.
Taken together, Ivermectin a treatment for head lice that costs as little as $2 combined with zinc and the antibiotic Doxycycline, could be a potential lifesaver right now, Professor Borody said.
whatever remedy you decide to take, you dont necessarily have to take it every day, you just have to have it on hand when you start to develop flu symptoms. And that goes for ANY flu and not just COVID 19.
While youre at it, please research BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene). BHT is a food additive that also destroys lipid enveloped viruses such as COVID.
I take Quercitin/Zinc plus BHT for prophylaxis.
Im glad youve asked, because I recently started us on quercetin. We were already taking zinc on occasion. On our fifth day of taking the two with our dinner meal, both my husband and I ended up with mild bowel upset. We dont think it was anything we ate, and wondered if it was from the quercetin/ zinc combo.
We are taking 50 mg zinc, and 500 mg quercetin, along with a daily multivitamin, 500 mg vitamin C, and 2500-5000 IU of vitamin D3.
Bookmark
We take daily, no matter what.
500mg Quercetin with 50mg of Zinc Citrate
Also, we take 600mg of NAC
100mcg of K-2 along with 5000IU D3
3000mg of vitamin C
That’s our daily vitamin regiment. It’s kinda of a lot, but so far, so good.
This is what my doctor has said to take - no precautions mentioned. But if you have liver problems I would make sure with your doctor that there is no problem. I take one of each every day - doctor says this will help prevent it and make it less serious if I do get it.
Good luck!
One Protocol...
Prophylaxis While there is extremely limited data, the following cocktail may have a role in the prevention/mitigation of COVID-19 disease. It should however be noted that a recent publication suggests that melatonin my reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.[1] This cocktail is cheap, safe, and widely available.
Vitamin C 500 mg BID (twice daily) and Quercetin 250-500 mg BID
Zinc 50-75 mg/day (elemental zinc). Zinc lozenges are preferred. After 1 month, reduce the dose to 30-50 mg/day.
Melatonin (slow release): Begin with 0.3mg and increase as tolerated to 2 mg at night
Vitamin D3 2000-4000 u/day
Optional: Famotidine 20-40 mg/day
I can’t take the melatonin, it zonks me out...
EGCG has caffeine, so you may not want take it at night. I take it in the morning and quercetin at night. It seems from all the studies I read, EGCG is more powerful. Here are some links:
