Freedom is amazing because, unless you are God, it is impossible to know exactly what it is and where it will take you. (See the micro-movie in the link for how this has happened to me today: from street art to Whitman to Virgil to God knows what next.)
Is this the most important American presidential election for freedom since 1964?
Nobody knew then that the presidential careers of two two-term presidents (Nixon - debatable as a two-termer? - and Reagan) would have a re-beginning in Nixon's case and a beginning in Reagan's case.
As I see it, this happened because Goldwater stood up for freedom so explicitly and powerfully.
America wasn't ready for what Goldwater offered in 1964, anymore than the blue "half" of America (and the occasional RINO from Utah etc) has been ready for the call to freedom which is the Trump Presidency.
What do Freepers have to say?
If an American Hall of Fame of Freedom ranked the great events, people, things for freedom in American history, where would the Trump presidency rate?
Way below the constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address would be my guess.
Above Bob Dylan's world class poetic mastery of English for creativity in the '60's and occasionally after that?
Above Hank Williams for the liberation of the American voice to be heard and loved as American in song?
Above Leaves Of Grass?
Above the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn?
LBJ won on the sympathy vote of JFK. Just how bad of a president he was is indicated by his refusal to run in 68.
Seems like every election is the most important. They say it every election, but this time it will almost certainly be the end of the republic if Sleepy Joe is elected.
how about:
every presidential election is the most important.
we’re only one election away from socialism and look what eight years of socialism under obamadunghole did.
Mt. Rushmore will be blown up if Soros wins. If Trump wins, he will end up on Mt. Rushmore.
He’s gotta get us out of the medical fascism he’s backed before he gets any freedom awards, unfortunately.
I think he meant 1864 not 1964.
Either that or he doesn’t understand our current situation.
Yeah well, when you’re walking a tightrope across a canyon, the next step is always the most important step in the journey.
This will be the election where the white guy blows up the polls and black and Hispanics vote for him in a BIGBWAY...Never before seen numbers like Trump will get.. No way are they looking at the carnage out there and saying oh yeah I want 4 more years of that....
Most important election since 1864.Too many Americans have been twisted into hating America. Obama would not have been elected otherwise. Trump did not divide America, he is just in the way of the bad guys.
1864......Absolutely!
Uh, no, of all freaking time...in 1964, did the Dems show all characteristics of hard-core communists in their ruling intentions??? I’d wager not.
This is republic vs no republic time...broken glass election.

I’m 66 years old and as far as I’m concerned and the Presidents I’ve known and voted for,Trump ranks as high as Reagan. Trump’s job has been tough because of all the anti American policies that our so called leaders have been busy implementing for decades that he’s trying to rectify. God help him.
Well done! Thanks! The upcoming election is much more important than that, though.

Here’s an article from last year from the British (Pommie) left, but there are some useful keywords in it that might lead to good organizations.

The most important election in my lifetime in my opinion, was the one in 1980, when the Soviets were winning the Cold War and Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini was having his way with us, illustrating the feckless and timidity of our foreign policy. As I cast my vote, I said a prayer that Ronald Reagan would win because I truly believed that Jimmy Carter’s re-election would pose an existential threat to the US.
1964 had an election, but certainly not a ‘contest’.
Hell Joe Biden even in his present mental state would have waltzed back into the Oval Office THAT year...JFK’s coattails reached all the way from Arlington to Pennsylvania Avenue
The 1964 election was decided the moment Lee Harvey Oswald pulled the trigger.
I was told if I voted for Goldwater, we’d have riots in the streets, and we would be engaged in a long unwinnable war.
Well I voted for Goldwater, and darned if they weren’t right.
Congress was full of WWII vets in the late 40’s to early 70 or so.
