As someone said in a comment, if these police officers are acquitted, it will make the Rodney King riots look like a walk in the park.

Very few of the cops think he will be acquitted. If all else fails, they will rig the jury.

Honestly, I don’t understand why they’re even going to bother with a trial.

Don’t be so sure about that. One semi-competent lawyer and an impartial juror or two, and Chauvin either walks or gets convicted of something along the lines of excessive force (though even that’s a stretch considering Floyd’s behavior and condition).

Judge Jeanine had an impassioned rant as to Floyd’s death being first degree murder. But she’s not likely to be on the jury.

These police officers did NOT kill George Floyd........just like the officers in Atlanta did not kill that other guy and forgive me for my lack of remembering his name.....Keith Ellison did not want this other part of the body cam out........hmmmmmm, wonder why? Have the National Guard, the military if necessary to be there and squash any demonstrations.......and you know there’s gonna be demonstrations that get out of hand. Justice is for everybody........and police officers are certainly no exception!!!

Yup, , , the “kaboom” after the acquittal will rival the Beirut explosion. Nothing to do but fight and arrest if they choose to ignore the evidence. More violent times likely lie ahead.

Chauvin probably should be acquitted but venue selection and/or jury selection is the key.

weeks back a friend of mine close to the situation said they were praying Chauvin would accept a plea deal because if it ever went to trial he would not be found guilty.

He needs a change of venue. No way he can get a fair trial in that county.

It will be a sham trial. Then the cops will go into the witness protection program. Nothing would surprise me.

The new video release pretty much clears the officers from having done anything wrong. Floyd was high as a kite, crazy, and OD’ing from meth and fentanyl. The media very conveniently omitted that the officers were called not just because of the phony bill but because Floyd was going crazy on the street outside.

The video tapes show at worst criminal negligence. Murder two is not going to fly.

Floyd already had trouble breathing and was very high on drugs. Chauvin should not have knelt on his neck but I dont think he was the primary cause of death if he was a cause at all. They overcharged him and the other officers.

Very curious about something - The US Supreme Court has ruled that no one is entitled to police protection. IOW - if I understand the impact of the decision - the police can’t be held liable if they fail to show up (in time, or at all) for my emergency after I call them.
So how could they be held responsible for George Floyd not getting immediate care? I know the facts are irrelevant because a picture is worth a thousand words; .... so an 8 minute video must be worth about $80 billion of damage?
But as to my original curiosity - can anyone explain that?

Moderator, I messed up when I put Chicago in the title line of this post. I was thinking in terms of the man who writes this blog, but it looks like I was connecting the Derek Chauvin case to Chicago. Feel free to remove Chicago from the title line. :-)

The problem isn’t any part of the arrest. It’s the eight minutes and forty-six seconds.

They took him down and knelt n him because he was resisting arrest. Why they didn’t cuff him reasonably quickly and get him in the car still baffles me. Do that, you have a nice, clean arrest.

During the 8:46, Floyd is saying “I can’t breathe” repeatedly and many bystanders are saying, “You’re killing him.” At some point during that 8:46, Chauvin must have known that if he continued to do what he was doing, he would kill Floyd — and he chose to keep doing it.

At that point, whenever that is, you have premeditation.

The democrats and the deep state need an acquittal for Chauvin, and they want it real bad.

But their plan for Rodney King riots part II will backfire hugely if they go through with it.

if these police officers are acquitted, it will make the Rodney King riots look like a walk in the park.

Launch Operation Rambo and send the National Guard to secure all of our cities. The troops will be armed and they will be permitted to fire. We do not need to see Rodney King Riots Part III. There will be law and order.
