Canned food is not good over 10 years and I would not have used all the canned food he had. I just threw it out after a large can of Pineapple juice exploded and made the biggest mess.
I dont necessarily agree with about the expiration of canned food, but I did share your experience with canned fruit. I had several cans of peaches and pineapple explode. Worst part is I had it stored in totes and didnt know about the problem for quite some tine. It was pretty disgusting.
Cafeen free diet Pepsi 12 oz cans unavailable in southeast Wisconsin
Go to many stores in America, and you will see empty shelves. The situation is reminiscent of empty store shelves in the Soviet Union. Of course, this does not apply to clothe or food stores the shelves there are packed to capacity as if nothing were happening.
In America, only gun shops have empty shelves.
Your garage? :-)
You have your view; I have mine.
I would caution you about criticizing your wife’s taste.
Where is 'where I am'?
Where I am - SW Mo sort of - can't get canning lids or vinegar. Actually we did get vinegar - got lucky i guess but still can't find canning lids and bands. Apparently I can order them online for $12.99 a dozen but even Ball brand at Walmart used to be $3.49. They have a cheaper brand but they've been out of those for awhile. No way am I paying $12.99 - ridiculous
Hint: you can get great deals on Uncle Ben’s and Aunt Jemima at Big Lots and other second hand stores right now.
Ive got lots but most of them are in use at the moment.
A friend gave me several boxes of jars she was getting rid of some years ago. I always figure that you cant have too many canning jars.
Or lids.......
Soon to be traded at ten times their price on eBay as collectibles?
Ive been able to find the 70% at Wal-Mart and some drug stores, but 91%????
No way, no how.
Sounds reasonable
Not in my basement.
Had a fantastic crop two summers ago. I canned over ten gallons of sauce and some stewed tomatoes.
This years crop is looking good but finding quart canning jars is a challenge.
SE WI. I found canning lids and bands at the nearby Wal-Mart here, but I shopped for those a couple months ago. I figured they would be in short supply by later in the summer when people start canning. Now, they’re hard to find because lots more people are canning this year. Pickles, lots of pickles.
Ive seen a lot more peroxide than rubbing alcohol.
Its been in grocery stores and Wal-Marts.
Purchase wasp and hornet spray if you can’t get mace.
I can’t find Diet Mountain Dew in 12 ounce cans any more. What’s going on? LOL!
Dish soap + ammonia makes a nice out of a stream spray bottle ‘repellant’ of two legged critters.
Ah yes pickles. We canned lots because it was a banner year for cucumbers in our garden.
I did get some lids and bands earlier but I’m canning much more than I had anticipated. Fortunately I have flats left, been stealing the bands from the already canned stuff. Don’t like to do that but desperate times call for desperate measures. :)
We now live way off the beaten path.
It is most certainly not an area where one would think youd need ammo for self-defense.
But a couple points.
Without ammo, the gun is useless.
Theres no guarantee that some random person causing trouble might not stumble onto your place. Its also very likely that you may need to go somewhere less safe.
And theres also wildlife that may need to be dealt with.
Anyone who lives in the country and is not armed is a fool.
