Empty shelves in American stores less than 100 days before the election
NOQ Report ^ | July 31, 2020 | Gary Gindler

<...>

Many Americans are well aware that in their cities, the power belongs not just to leftists, not only to outspoken communists but also fanatics, ideological whackos with ideas of the world revolution. What will American citizens do? They, in fact, have already done, and have already decided this.

America has gorged its fill of decapitated and mutilated statues, looting and marauding left-wing barbarians, and demands the restoration of order. Democrats already seem to know who won this year’s election, and the pathetic attempt to revolutionize America is simply an instinctive collective reaction of leftism to its future loss. But what can act as a precise, objective measure of this loss?

Go to many stores in America, and you will see empty shelves. The situation is reminiscent of empty store shelves in the Soviet Union. Of course, this does not apply to clothe or food stores – the shelves there are packed to capacity as if nothing were happening.

In America, only gun shops have empty shelves.

Scarcity is a word practically unknown to the Americans, but well known to everyone who lived behind the Iron Curtain. Now there is a deficit in America too – supply does not keep pace with demand for firearms. In the first half of this year, weapons sales grew 80% compared to the first half of 2019, with about half of these purchases made by first-time buyers.

Most importantly, women have made a record number of gun purchases this year.

Wheel weights of Pb are like finding quarters with silver content.

Diesel trucks and trailers still use Pb for their tires. Luckily for me and my brothers our father had about 2 tons of wheel weights melted down into Saeco 1 Lb. ingots. I am set for life. Now I just order Linotype ingots to mix with the wheel weight lead. The old man at one time had about 500 pounds of Linotype after printed newspapers started going away. It is harder to find now and expensive to have shipped. Roto Metals sells it for @ $5 Lb.

Kids doing school from home has added big demand for computers.

Makes sense. They sure drove the prices up.

And it’s not just kids. Lots of people working from home semi-permanently May not have been able to bring the corporate desktop home, so have bought an incremental home computer.

Ok. Thanks. I mostly shop at grocery and various small merchants. No serious supply problems at any of them. But we did have a couple of items fail to arrive from amazon recently. One sold directly by amazon and they candidly said they couldn’t get it ( though it’s easily available elsewhere on the web and regular store so that’s what we did). Second item was sold by a private company just using the amazon site for marketing. They lied about shipping the item, giving a cock and bull story that clearly didn’t ring true. And the post office said they never received it. Grocery store is full of stuff including papayas from Hawaii and figs from Greece and cheese from Switzerland and beer from Mexico. No supply problems there where it counts , ha! Thanks

[“... was out shopping today. The one thing I cannot find anywhere is rubbing alcohol.”]

Have you considered Everclear?

I use 70% Isopropyl to clean my CPAP equipment. My stock was getting low, when my son suggested this alternate.

Get used to it, folks...masks are NOT going anywhere. Freedom and liberty are antiquated in this country.

Perhaps that the shelves are full in Wisconsin. But they aren’t full everywhere. I counted the equivalent of 6 empty aisles at target and as many at Walmart.

You don’t have to insult.

Jerk.

Rubbing alcohol is one of the easiest and quickest ways to destroy a virus. Hopefully the production will catch up quickly. All through February when I would go into Costco I would buy two 2-packs of 70% alcohol at $5.00 or whatever it was. My last trip was the end of the 3rd week and they still had some.

I now give them to my physical therapist and barber. And to a few elderly neighbors. I gave the neighbors little spray bottles too.

I did see they have Hydrogen Peroxide at Costco now. I bought way too much of that earlier. It isn't all that effective at the 3% that is commonly sold - takes a long time to destroy a virus.

I've seen on line on how you can heat it up to evaporate the water and increase the percentage of Peroxide, but that seems like a lot of trouble.

I find that going early works well.

If you go on their website, there’s a place where you can check to see how busy your particular store is by the day and hour.

I always figured that Wally’s clientele was not given to getting up early.

I’ve been consistently right.

My local Ace Hardware sells fuel for alcohol stoves in their paint department for about $20 per gallon.

Don’t know what the exact chemical content is, though.

The H2O2 molecule is inherently unstable.

Heating it to evaporate the H2O will convert the H2O2 into H2O faster.

That’s good to know because mr. mm likes to use the 91% for projects.

I sure wish I had bought more earlier. But what I’m going to start doing is going to the courtesy desk and asking if they have any. If they are rationing it out, then I can get a bottle here and there.

The videos I saw said it was critical not to let it “boil” (and bubble iirc). That may have been the reason? I don’t know. But thanks for the knowledge.

I do lots of repairs on my cars, home, etc. using youtube. I end up running through a lot of them - and all the comments, to try to decipher which is the right way to do something and which is not the best way. Of course some channels I have figured out do a good job of explaining AND I have come to trust the knowledge they provide.

My wife is a procurement officer at a University Veterinarian teaching hospital. She has experienced the same stuff you have addressed. Gowns, masks and gloves. Fortunately, she has been slowly upping the DED’s with several suppliers such as Medline.

Well...just checked on Wal Mart’s site...Every Wal Mart in the entire county is ‘out of stock’ on peroxide. Can you believe that crap? Looks like I can get it online though..for about 6.00 per bottle. This is ridiculous.
