Sheila Jackson Lee (D) Texas, wanted more ‘African-American’ names on storms....................
They should have used a Japanese name like Irene.
Then, next year, we can use the American version, Ilene.
PING!
I’m surprised they didn’t name it Hurricane Injustice.

Should evacuations be required in locked down states, will shelters be opened?
There’s a million different possible paths!
The name of the hurricane is but the Spanish pronunciation for the Biblical name Isaiah...one of the greatest prophets that has ever lived.
So which is the “worst” ... the name or the hurricane? Maybe both if it strengthens...
I Say Ass ?
The good news is that we have five more years before Hurricane Karen comes in and and demands to see the management.
The singular version Isaia is a very high end men’s and women’s clothing brand.

Yeah, but consider the timing, Isaiah 40:1-26
Shabbat of Consolation
The Shabbat after the Ninth of Av is called Shabbat Nachamu ("Shabbat of Consolation") after the opening words of the day's reading from the prophets ("haftara"). This is the first of the series of readings known as "The Seven of Consolation" read in the seven weeks from the Ninth of Av to Rosh Hashanah.
Isaias: God is my salvation.

Isa 40.3. A voice cries, Prepare in the wilderness the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God: 4. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
Prophets - always on a mission from God.
How about:
Karen1, Karen2, and Karen3 up to and including the last hurrican of this season.
How about:
Karen1, Karen2, and Karen3 up to and including the last hurrican of this season.
Maybe Hurricane Isaiah will bring about the coming of the Messiah!
Just declare ALL names racist/sexist/homophobic/figure out what you want/etc
and just call them hurricanes with no name, no initial etc etc
LIBs can fix anything
Then we can make it illegal to name animals and work our way up to humans.
What better way to say fair than NO ONE can have a name or whatever you call it to be made fun of.
ANOTHER SLIDE DOWN THE RAZOR BLADE OF LIFE....
Nothing wrong with the name. It’s the obviously forced unnatural pronunciation that’s a problem. We speak English here.
Some politically correct wacko thinks it’s inclusive to name hurricanes with “diverse” names.
I realized the whole thing was insane when a hurricane with a female name, like Glenda, was referred to by the weather babe as “SHE”.
So it’s an honor now to be named for a hurricane.
Thats incorrect. Names are on a multi-year rotation and are only switched out when the previous name is retired. A name is retired because it was so destructive and/or deadly that to use the name again would be inappropriate.
https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames_history.shtml
For example, the name Betsy was retired after the 1965 category 4 Hurricane Betsy after killing 81 people and causing $1.42 billion in damage ($11.62 billion today).
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Betsy
Can you imagine how freaked out people would get if Andrew, Katrina or Camille were used again? For the letter I, these eleven storm names have so far been retired:
Ione, Inez, Iris, Isidore, Isabel, Ivan, Ike, Igor, Irene, Ingrid, and Irma.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_retired_Atlantic_hurricane_names
Combined, these storms killed 1,362 people and caused an unadjusted $164.839 billion in damage ($195.110 billion adjusted for inflation).
There are only so many names available. Eventually, the common names get retired and we end up with storms with uncommon names, such as Isaias.
