When Adrianna San Marco arrived at Syracuse University in the fall of 2019 for her freshman year, she was stunned at the blatant anti-conservative bias he witnessed from her fellow students and professors. San Marco knew that most college campuses arent bastions of free thought or tolerance of conservative viewpoints and that Syracuse had denied Young Americans for Freedom permission to establish an official chapter on campus in February 2019, but still thought they might try a little harder to hide the overtly political targeting.
A political science major, San Marco is also interested in political journalism and commentary. She became a conservative columnist for the student newspaper, The Daily Orange, and also wrote for Lifezette and Law Enforcement Daily. In the midst of the Black Lives Matter protests, on June 5, she penned an op-ed at Lifezette titled: Why Institutional Racism is a Myth. Her piece cited numerous studies and wasnt emotion-based, so, predictably, leftist heads exploded especially the ones at Syracuse University.

Giant lawsuit time.
S.U. can be counted on to jump into every academic fad with both feet.
Best thing I ever did was join the workforce and leave that place after two disappointing years . Got nice 40 yr rr pension now!
College administrators are, for the most part, already creatures of the LEFT and will do NOTHING for the non-LEFT oriented that is not coerced from them. Even the few that are not LEFTists are mere rocks in the river of academia. Faculty, Administrators and Students are all infused with their certainty of their cause and will swamp anything less than a total blatant act of bias like Duke and the Lacrosse Team.
This Chancellor of Syracuse University, Kent Syverud, and his colleagues got their wish of being rid of this vexatious student by remaining silent. With her not returning, they can continue to live in their nirvana of LEFTism, untroubled by such issues as freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Placeholders and paper-shufflers, creatures of their own mini-swamps!
And yet, Syverud is far better than Chancy Nancy.
Nevertheless, this does not surprise me in the least coming from there.
You can’t live in CNY and not know someone who works at SU.
The stories I’ve heard from them and 2 of my kids who went there, just are staggering.
Without SU in the mix, Syracuse might actually be a conservative city.
The bright spot is that conservatives are the new counter-establishment movement. The left rose to power the same way, starting out as the minority voice against the establishment.
The problem is, the left is far more authoritarian about enforcing their speech codes.
Conservatives historically allow for a loyal opposition. Leftists Historically kill all counterculture parties in opposition to them
“the Intolerant Left.”
Should be “the intolerant, hateful Left.”
Mnay US universities have morphed from institutes of higher learning into institutes of left wing propaganda.
so the Left is not against Bulling now ? Oh wait the Left goes which ever way the Wind Blows
That is true, at least in part because conservatives respect the constitution and loyal opposition is healthy for a democratic society. Even old-school liberals understood that, like Justice Brandeis who said “sunlight is the best disinfectant”. Healthy rigorous debate lets the cream of ideas rise to the top.
Unfortunately modern day liberals aren’t into healthy, open debate. Either you agree with them, or you are Hitler. This is due in large part to the effect of social media and the cancel culture nature of public opinion/education. As the journalist who just recently resigned from the NYT said: “Twitter is now on the masthead of the NYT.” Public debate is almost all about clicks and retweets to build and monetize a personal profile. It’s not about logic or reason. In fact, the Smithsonian Institute on Black History says that logic, reason and the scientific method are all symbols of white racism!
Someone should’ve told Frederick Douglass. If he knew that in his day, he would never have tried to learn how to read and write. On his own. Became a preeminent and persuasive writer and logician.
Yeah, I hear you too. This is not an ideal situation. I don’t think the feds should be involved in street level crime. But what’s happening is a reversion to 1980’s crack war levels.
My personal opinion, these “wars” on drugs, poverty, illiteracy etc have all been abysmal failures just by judging from the results. I think they are mostly just programs designed for graft and corruption. Look at the NY State Assembly, the Illinois Speaker, even the Ohio speaker all corrupt. But I view those issues as different from murderous gangs killing innocent people on a war-like scale. I like local police, but something is seriously broken in Chicago that they are unable to do anything about it. We can’t have this happening in our 3rd largest city. My red line is at violence. I don’t want feds involved in most of the other issues. But when it is not safe to walk your toddler across the street without getting murdered, something must be done.
