Why 3 weeks?
That's how long it takes to reserve a one-way U-Haul outbound.

I am pleased to report we loaded our U-Haul rental yesterday and I am on the road driving to our new home in Utah.
Right now we are just a few hours into the trip, but we have crossed the state line and are now in Iowa.

Yep, and we have had enough.
We were paying about $15,000 a year in property taxes on a home now worth about $380,000 or so. We have a beautiful 1 acre lot, surrounded by 30 white or and burr oak trees 100-200 years old.
But property values are sinking. We will sell the house for a lot less than we paid for it 20 years ago.
Property taxes are a killer and taxes in general are going to rise in Illinois.

He should be forced to stay in Chicago and clean up the mess he created.

One of the happiest days of my life was when I put Ct in the rear view as I headed to my new home in SC.
I have had several stern conversations with northerners who complain about the local government, schools, etc. I always say that we’re only visitors here. Leave it to the natives to run the state like they want. They’ve done well so far. That’s why you’re here.
It’s ok, they’re letting their criminals out of jails so they can replace them.

I don’t paint everyone fleeing from these liberal utopias with a bad brush. There are lots of good conservatives stuck in the deep blue cities.
However, the overall flight from these democrat failures is a malignant cancer to the red states. Just look at the Western US where many (not all - again I know some good ones) Californians have fled and quickly begun eroding conservative governance. How or why they cannot put 2 and 2 together is beyond me. Almost all of them decry the big taxes and big government in California as the reason they left but then they vote for the same crap!
Ironic, huh? Most leaving are the same idiots that voted and voted, and voted for the cancer which they now seek to haul arse from.
Please leave your CANCER there when exiting, cause be assured, in most other parts of the country where we don’t have tard DEM problems of wrecking sh*t, you might end up getting shot or stomped into a mudhole. Just saying.
Exactly. A NYer was complaining about the poor schools which he blamed on low property taxes. His Property taxes were $7k cheaper in NC than NY. My response: If it is so bad here, why did you move here?

Why did the good people of Utah vote for a Democrat in Republican’s clothing for Senator? ( I’m looking at Mitt Romney ).

Say what you will about California but my property tax on a home worth over $300,000 is only $1,400 a year. Thanks to Prop 13 which pretty much froze property taxes.
I rarely had to wait more than a couple of days to get the size of U-haul truck or trailer when I was making my move from Maryland to Indiana 2 years ago. I made a monthly trip for a year between the time we bought our Indiana house and finally sold our Maryland house. The monthly trips had the added advantage of seeing my mother every 3-4 weeks instead of the previous twice a year that happened for many years.

Why not, everybody else on free republic don’t hesitate to condemn conservatives that live in California.
Most people don’t take the time to understand why and how California became so liberal. Trust me, most of the Crazies live along the coast. Central California (where I live) and Northern California is still pretty much conservative, but we are out numbered.
My roots are here and I can not see moving when I only have a few years left anyway.
