Yeah,I live in a mask state with pretty decent compliance (MA). We had no deaths the other day. We are about to open up completely in about a week.

Not only have I not seen compliance with masks in other states, I see folks standing in lines with no space. I see people hanging all over each other in public.

And then y’all come on here and bitch about it.

Do you want to be shut down for another year? Keep doing what you are doing. I will laugh at you fools on my way to the gym.

PS: you might want to clean your AC filters too.

Because it fogs their glasses up.
(I know this doesn’t apply to everyone.)

I would assume the non eyeglass wearers would be doing it for two main reasons:
1 it’s easier to breathe.
2 it keeps body temp down.

At worst it restricts air-flow, but the air that goes through the filter is still 20.95% O2.

Agreed, but the expelled air that stays in the mask, that is then re-breathed at the start of the next inhale, has reduced oxygen levels. Small quantity, but over time, it will make your heart rate go up if your body doesn't get the right level of oxygen.

I have one of the oxygen gages that you put on a finger. I measure for one minute. It registered 95%. I put it on for one minute with a cloth mask. It register 95%, then bounced between 95% and 96%.

This is not about whether or not to wear a mask. This is about an utterly flawed experiment.

I have worked in healthcare for 13 years. Masks were NEVER worn all day long in all settings. They are worn during surgery and when visiting a patient who is at a real risk of infection.

But if making the mask makes you feel safer, by all means, wear it. Just stop trying to bully those of us who don’t want to wear them 24/7.

It gets so old with the outright lies and exaggerations. I agree, you don’t want to wear a mask because you don’t want to wear a mask, man up and say that.

The whole parade of reasons why not to wear a mask is undercut by these ‘tests’ and ‘testimonials.’ There are tens of millions of Americans wearing masks, and gosh and golly, there’s not piles of bodies in the street.

If, perchance, you are one of those who really can’t wear a mask, what the heck are you doing outside during a pandemic? I mean, you’re in the 10% range of dying from COVID-19.

Can’t wear a mask because you’re on oxygen? Well, again, why are you out during a pandemic, but when they dropped off your oxygen tanks or concentrator, they gave you an oxygen mask, wear it.

I’m all for healthy debate, but please, people, stop using liberal tactics of false statistics, false testing and following some stupid yoga instructor.

Texas virus rates went up, but MSM didn’t tell the truth.

Houston, Dallas and Austin are the focal points, not San Antonio, Fort Worth.

Guess which cities had the protests.

I did my own experiment using an oxygen saturation meter.

I’m on oxygen most of the time, but use an oxygen saturation meter (oximeter) to monitor my levels should I take the o2 feed off occasionally.

My experiment was to remove my oxygen feed and after a few minutes, take my o2 sat reading. Mine is low to begin with, so it was 92...then I put on the mask and monitored my o2 with the mask on. It consistently fell till after about 20 minutes it was down to 88, and I then put my oxygen back on. It rose quickly to 95 once my oxygen feed was replaced.

Would someone without oxygen problems have the same results, I have no idea. My numbers were just an anecdotal result.

The Covid virus was supposed to be contained in the kind of lab where people wear astronaut suits and go through triple sealed doors. It is a con of massive proportion to assert that now, having escaped those environs, a bandana will magically do the trick.

After all, size matters.*

The pore size of cloth face coverings range from ~ 20-100 microns. The Covid virus is 200-1000x smaller than that, at 0.1 microns. Putting up a chain link fence will not keep out a mosquito. Even the most esteemed medical journals admit their purpose is to calm anxiety. “Expanded masking protocols’ greatest contribution may be to reduce the transmission of anxiety …”

Corona 19 Viruses:

Doesn’t it depend on how much actual protection from spread the mask provides? It seems to be commonly accepted that masks don’t protect you from getting it, at least that’s what the mask boxes say.

If that’s true, then how can the mask protect you from spreading it, in the slight chance that you happen to be covid positive but pre-symptomatic that day?

How can the mask prevent spread from exhalation but not from inhalation?

I wear a mask to go into certain stores like Walmart but after a few minutes I start coughing. Then everyone starts looking at me like I'm sick. 😆

“Just stop trying to bully those of us who don’t want to wear them 24/7.”

I do not see any bully of people who don’t want to wear a mask. If is a free country, don’t wear one, we do not care if someone does not want to wear a mask. I think the bully is the other way around here on Free Republic.

“I have worked in healthcare for 13 years. Masks were NEVER worn all day long in all settings. They are worn during surgery and when visiting a patient who is at a real risk of infection.”

As far as I know my local government is not recommending me to wear a mask all day. The only time they recommend wearing a mask is where social distance is not possible indoors or crowded areas (buses, crowed sidewalk).

I only wear a mask maybe 1 hour a week when shopping for groceries. My wife might wear a mask more when dealing with customers, but it is much like a medical worker visiting a patient.

My company is ensuring our work spaces have social distance spacing in the work space too. You do not need to wear a mask all day their too.

All the Demigods here exaggerates the dangers of mask and make it like we being force to wear mask by some dictatorship. You would think the world is ending with the fear mongering over the requirement to wear a mask.

Note: If you have a breathing issue that prevents you from wearing a mask you just need to stay out of areas where you can not social distance or just stay home.

I am guessing most of you are smart enough to realize that this is a very stupid, unscientific test with an obvious result.

Just take an oxygen sensor, and hold it in front of your mouth, and breath out. It will go off. Your breath has lower oxygen.

Once you have blown out, you then breathe in. Even in a mask, your mask is not trapping any significant volume of air, you will mostly get new air from outside the mask.

The “mask problem” is that it can be harder to physically breathe in while wearing a mask, because it increases resistance. Not that it “traps” CO2 and feeds it back to you.

(Well, I guess if you wore a mask that was like a space suit, you would trap air, but we are supposed to be wearing cloth masks that pretty much sit on our face, with maybe an inch of free space holding about 3% of the volume of your lungs).

If you medically have issues with a mask, you can get waivers; tests done by looking at O2 saturation show that for a vast majority of the people, none of the masks we wear have any real impact on the amount of oxygen your body absorbs, just the amount of work your lung muscles to do take a breath.

I recommmend getting more breathable fabric for masks — I’ve seen people making masks with 3 or 4 layers including filters; all they are doing is making it harder to breathe, and forcing their breath to go around the fabric, which doesn’t really matter because nothing we are using is “filtering” the actual virus, they are catching large particulate matter that is carrying masses of the virus, like spittle from loud shouts, coughing, and sneezing.

In Virginia, you are not required to wear a mask if you have a medical reason not to. I’m glad you are not getting harassed where you are; if I was in your condition, I’d have printed up my own note in large letters with my doctors name on it saying “Patient has medical issue preventing mask use, please practice social distancing”.

I tried the same experiment with a different, cheaper mask using the same (Walgreen) finger blood-oxygen gauge. I measure for one minute. It registered 95%. I put the mask on for one minute. It register 95%. It also shows breathing rates which was 69-70/minute in both cases. The article is bunk.

easy answer, if some has a problem, slide a kleenex between mask and face, but most won't even notice.
