The McCloskeys support Black Lives Matter, Watkins their lawyer said, pointing out that their client base largely consists of persons of color in personal injury and civil rights cases.
Watkins went on to explain that peaceful protesters were not the subject of scorn or disdain by the couple, and the McCloskeys were expecting and supportive of the message of the protesters.
“Their actions were borne solely of fear and apprehension, the genesis of which was not race-related. In fact, the agitators responsible for the trepidation were white,” Watkins said.
Two white males among the more than 500 protesters threatened the couple, Watkins said.
The McCloskeys responded by calling the police, going into their restored mansion, getting their firearms, and protecting themselves along with their property, Watkins said.
“There were two individuals that stuck out like sore thumbs because they were violent. They ripped a 100-year-old wrought iron gate and bent it. They did so in a fashion that was accompanied by derisive commentary,” Watkins said.
“Bad things were said. They weren’t the message of Black Lives Matter. They were threats. They were hostile…my clients weren’t there with guns. (Mark McCloskey) went in and got his guns…these two people have spent a career serving and addressing the civil rights needs of people of color. (They) were not frightened of peaceful protesters.”
The statement of support of BLM didn’t help them as Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner has vowed to have them investigated.
Gardner released an official statement Monday from the circuit attorney’s office.
I am alarmed at the events that occurred over the weekend, where peaceful protestors were met by guns and a violent assault. We must protect the right to peacefully protest, and any attempt to chill it through intimidation or threat of deadly force will not be tolerated. My office is currently working with the public and police to investigate these events. Make no mistake: we will not tolerate the use of force against those exercising their First Amendment rights, and we will use the full power of Missouri law to hold people accountable.

The St. Louis Police Department is reportedly investigating the incident as a “fourth-degree assault by intimidation.”
But the video shows clearly that the protesters trespass.

Yesterday Mark McCloskey spoke out in his first on-camera interview since he confronted Black Lives Matter during an interview with KSDK.
“We came back to the house. I don’t know what time it is, I’ve been up ever since. I’m a little, I’m a little blurry, but we were preparing dinner. We went out to the east patio, open porch that faces Kingshighway on one side and Portland Place Drive on the south, and we’re sitting down for dinner. We heard all this stuff going on down on Maryland Plaza. And then the mob started to move up Kingshighway, but it got parallel with the Kingshighway gate on Portland Place,” Mark McCloseky said.
“Somebody forced the gate, and I stood up and announced that this is private property. Go back. I can’t remember in detail anymore. I went inside, I got a rifle. And when they … because as soon as I said this is private property, those words enraged the crowd,” he said.
McClosky said one of the militants pulled out a loaded pistol magazine and clicked them together and said ‘you’re next.’
“We were threatened with our lives, threatened with a house being burned down, my office building being burned down, even our dog’s life being threatened. It was, it was about as bad as it can get,” McCloskey said.

I didn’t know the 1st Am. allowed for the tearing down of gates and trespassing. That’s a new one on me.
If they are so dumb how is it they know how to acquire the money they do. That house, fully restored, had to cost a fortune. Why are dumb leftists so smart about money?
That explains their horrid handling of their firearms and their lack of tactical skill.
Now we have video footage of rich white people brandishing scary-black-assault-rifles at peaceful protesters of color.
Message delivered: the government will come after you if you are white and exercise your 2AM rights to defend yourself.

So if someone feels you’re going to assault them.... you’re GUILTY (even if you’ve done nothing). And, furthermore, if they think you did it because you’re racist / sexist / homophobe (even if you’re not), you can be found guilty of virtual assault AND a hate crime! To the re-education camps with you!
There are various forms of intelligence, and not all of them are compatible and in lockstep with each other.
This is the human condition, and there are parts of us that are susceptible to the flaw.

We know from every day life that this fallacy is all too evident, but it seems to be more prominent on the Left.
Because someone can memorize and recite lines from a script, many people (including the script-reader) feel they can also comment authoritatively on hypersonic missile technology, 2nd Amendment rights, or any other thing that they wish to comment on and be considered an “expert”.
Likewise, even true experts on Physics or Medicine also feel qualified to be comment on and be viewed as an authoritative voice on Religion or Economics.
I like to think of myself as being authoritative on various things, but...I’m not. I just have opinions.
And, opinions are like anal sphincters...
In the meanwhile we are expected to upend our whole society to appease those who are perpetually offended, to submit everything to their feels. And nothing calms their feels, they find ways and excuses to be offended if none are offered.
Reminds me of the White, female “human rights volunteer” that screamed “But I’m a malcolm x scholar!” as she was being raped by a black haitian.
Yep. These folks probably support them trashing less affluent neighborhoods.
I think I get it.
If you stand up to the mob to defend your property, you may be excused from having committed a felony, if:
1. You swear oneness to the mob’s cause.
2. Yo swear at all times in the past that you have been sympathetic to the mob’s cause.
3. You swear that at no time in the past have you ever uttered any words that would displease the mob.
4. You swear that you will fully support the mob’s grievances.
Then, maybe, just maybe, some ticked off black female prosecutor will let you off if only you continue to grovel and beg for mercy.

That's because it doesn't. The ignorance of our so-called leaders is amazing.
They are plaintiff lawyers. If the right case or two happens to walk through your door you can be set for life. Just ask John Edwards.
I wonder if they will still support the democrat party as they could have been murdered and or had their home destroyed by the democrat party.
That is the mindset exactly. That Haitian guy didn’t know or care that female “human rights volunteer” was “down with the struggle”.
He was doing what the dark side of human nature compels people like him to do, and he did it to a person who refuses to believe there is an inherent evil aspect in human nature that cannot be mitigated by money, property, healthcare, education (Basically, “PID” Poverty, Ignorance, and Disease) that the Left thinks are the root of all societal issues such as crime and antisocial behavior conditions.
The Left thinks that if they eradicate those things, they can eradicate evil.
Conservatives believe that evil exists independently of those things, and must simply be fought and punished.
The Left hates that. It gets in the way of their Utopia.
