Mel Gibson was fired from a movie after Winona Ryder accused him of anti-Semitic and anti-gay comments decades ago. So why is this famous movie star and director treated this way, while so many people excused George Floyd's (and Winona Ryder's) past?

the same people who won’t forgive others about the past...

want governmwnt to force others to forget about THEIR pasts, their criminal pasts, their moral failings pasts, their financial pasts, their tenant pasts, their past failings as parents or not being parents at all to their kids...

they don’t live by thier own rules

we wont be held to higher standards than they refuse to be held to

People might forgive Mel is he were slowly tortured and killed on camera.
Until then it’s a silly comparison.

If Mel Gibson had merely committed armed-robbery, kidnapping, assault and counterfeiting, he’d be the most popular guy in Hollywood.

Something to consider —

The Left today complains about our “400 years of bigotry”. They go back to 1619 and find America guilty.

Well, the USA isn’t 400 years old.
The British Empire did bad things — but we threw those bastards out, right? But we’re still guilty.
The Founders didn’t get it quite right — but we fought a Civil War and sacrificed half a million men, right? But we’re still guilty.
We’ve been pushing Progressivism and the Great Society for decades. But we’re still guilty.

What happens after the Great Communist Revolution? Usher in the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, Remake everything. Rename everything. Do these people think they WON’T be accountable for the crimes of those who came before???? They will still be every bit as “guilty” as we are.

They will temporarily overlook the sins of a man like George Floyd — if it helps the revolution — but in the big scheme of things, they have no mechanism by which sin can be redeemed, and so everyone is always guilty and awful forever.

George Floyd's past wasn't his problem at the time of his arrest, but rather his current behavior. He was doped up on meth and fentanyl, and resisted arrest. The media narrative about him is that he was good man who turned his life around. In fact, he was a thug until the moment he died.

Furthermore, comparing Floyd's past to Gibson's makes no sense. Floyd was convicted of armed robbery. The worst thing Mel Gibson ever did was drive drunk and say some unpleasant things about Jews - not very commendable behavior, but not a violent felony. Even if Gibson did say what Ryder claims he did, that's nowhere in the same league as sticking a gun in somebody's face to steal his or her property.

Since I only care what people do versus what they say, I don’t care much what Mel Gibson says or ever said. I believe in the sticks and stones philosophy and not at all what people say. The leftists divide us by fretting about the frivolous.

If it was so upsetting, why did it take Winona Ryder 25 years to say anything about it?

Mel would have known she was Jewish and he never would said disparaging remarks in person. Note: Disparaging remarks are disparaging whether made to a Catholic, Protestant or Jew. I don’t buy any of the leftist bull that some of us are more important than others, or more disparaging to some than others.
