Democrat AOC, CNN’s Brian Stelter Gloat About China-Controlled ‘TikTok’ App DisInfo Campaign Against Trump Rally
The National Pulse ^ | 06 21 2020 | Staff

Posted on 06/21/2020 7:10:26 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Saturday night, following a smaller turnout at the Trump rally in Oklahoma:

"Actually you just got ROCKED by teens on TikTok who flooded the Trump campaign w/ fake ticket reservations & tricked you into believing a million people wanted your white supremacist open mic enough to pack an arena during COVID

Shout out to Zoomers. Y’all make me so proud"

Let’s be clear: TikTok is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, as we detailed in May here on The National Pulse.

The app has removed references to the Tiananmen Square massacre, in line with demands from Chinese Communist Party officials, and has been flagged by a number of leading cyber-security monitors on national security grounds.

In a bipartisan move last year Senators Tom Cotton and Chuck Schumer sent a joint letter to acting director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire requesting the Intelligence Community conduct a security assessment of TikTok.

The letter noted:

"Questions have also been raised regarding the potential for censorship or manipulation of certain content. TikTok reportedly censors materials deemed politically sensitive to the Chinese Communist Party, including content related to the recent Hong Kong protests, as well as references to Tiananmen Square, Tibetan and Taiwanese independence, and the treatment of Uighurs. The platform is also a potential target of foreign influence campaigns like those carried out during the 2016 election on U.S.-based social media platforms."

Now, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is bragging about this potential foreign influence, while CNN’s Brian Stelter called it a “no show protest” without offering his viewers any insight into the TikTok app and who owns it.

Interestingly I watched ABC Nightly and they barely mentioned the use of the TikTok app.

I believe liberals are giving second thoughts to bragging about using a Chinese app to interfering in Trumps' rally.

Well, the Trump campaign released a statement, claiming that it’s all a bunch of hooey. Apparently when you register you have to include a cell phone number and consquently the campaign knew that a large percentage of the sign-ups were frauds.

So, the place would have been packed if dems hadn’t reserved the seats and not showed up. Disruption outside kept people from getting to the seats.
Liberals should be proud! They hampered free speech and freedom of assembly. And all with the help of China!
To boot it is an excellent example of the fraud to come if libs get the mail in voting they want.

You wanna bet that the idea to do this was originally spread by Chinese agents on TikTok?

They would be equally shameless and proud if they manage to steal the Presidential election.

It’s like watching a couple of juveniles giggling about their Halloween poop bag on fire stunt. This is what the new democrat party is all about...

updated for a quote from Sleepy Joe;
THIRTEEN writers! one lie each means...?

updated 21 Jun: CNN: Tulsa official says 6,200 attended Trump rally as campaign tries to blame ‘radical’ protesters and media for lack of crowd
by Ryan Nobles; CNN’s Abby Phillip, Martin Savidge, Gary Tuchman, Augie Martin, Jeremy Moorhead, Anne Clifford, Matt Hoye, Dana Bash, Maeve Reston, Daniel Shepherd, DJ Judd and Gabe Ramirez contributed to this story
The department monitored the crowd at the Bank of Oklahoma Center, an arena that can hold just more than 19,000, and public information officer Andy Little told CNN that Saturday’s general admission count does not include suite holders, staff and media.

Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh disputed the department’s count Sunday, saying, “12,000 people went through the metal detectors so that number is way off.” He added that the lower bowl of the BOK Center, which admitted rallygoers on a first-come, first-serve basis, was mostly full...
Several CNN teams on the ground throughout Tulsa on Saturday said they did not see any PROLONGED activity by protesters that prevented attendees from gaining access, although one entrance was closed for brief periods of time because of efforts to block that entry point.

Late Saturday night, a (ANONYMOUS) Secret Service spokesman told CNN in a statement that an entrance to the Tulsa rally was temporarily closed and later reopened allowing people to enter. The statement is consistent with what CNN observed outside the rally.
“Earlier today, several individuals attempted to block an entrance to the site in Tulsa,” the statement said. “For the safety of attendees, the public and event staff, the local police temporarily closed the gates at that entrance point. As soon as local law enforcement was able to provide a clear path, the entrance point was reopened and attendees were permitted to enter. For information on any arrests, contact the City of Tulsa Police Department.”..

12,000 or thereabouts sounds reasonable, given what I’ve seen.

I'd love to see a deep-dive forensic investigation into AOCs' twitter account and others to find out who did what.

Will any Republican ask for an investigation?

No.

Fake news.
I think this has happened for every rally in the past, just a bigger, more organized scale this time that probably didn’t affect attendance.
Everybody knew there were also tons of Trump fans signing up for tickets to show support.

Nevertheless I hope the campaign can tweak it so we don’t have the ninny TikTok babies bragging that they are sabotaging every rally, it’s bad PR.

10,000 is much closer to 12,000 than to 6,200, & Tulsa World has hardly shown pro-Trump bias:

20 Jun: Tulsa World: Tulsa Trump rally coverage: First protester arrested in Tulsa tells her story; Did TikTok users and K-Pop fans inflate ticket numbers?
The Tulsa World estimates that about 10,000 people were inside the BOK Center for today’s rally for President Trump...

"Don’t know why this isn’t wire fraud."

If what AOC tweeted is true it should be investigated.

It's a shame such a blatant abuse doesn't raise an eyebrow of a single Republican.

If 'right wing extremists' had done this to a Joe rally there would be a Congressional investigation and 24 hr headline news.

AOC: Trump is a poopyhead.
Brian: Yeah, and his mother wears combat boots!
AOC: Yeah, and everyone knows that it’s impossible to pull yourself up by your bootstraps.
Brian: You are a genius; I don’t care what mean, nasty things others say about you.

well we now know the strategy of the media

no matter what number people trump has in a rally, its going to be downplayed and denigrated and made to seem somehow a bad number.

its all they can do so they will do it

CNN were definitely early with the promotion of the TikTok stunt (btw Tulsa World is owned by “Lee Enterprises. The new owners announced in January 2020 the corporate purchase of BH Media Group, a Berkshire Hathaway company controlled by Warren Buffett” - Wikipedia):

16 Jun: Tulsa World: TikTok users are reportedly reserving tickets for Trump’s Tulsa rally they’ll never use
By Donie O’Sullivan, CNN
But some who have registered for the free event, which is scheduled to take place at a nearly 20,000 seat auditorium on Saturday, say they have no plans to attend.
They’re trying to troll the President’s campaign instead.
Mary Jo Laupp, a 51-year-old grandmother living in Fort Dodge, Iowa, appears to have helped led the charge on TikTok late last week when she posted a video encouraging people to go to Trump’s website, register to attend the event — and then not show up.

“All of those of us that want to see this 19,000 seat auditorium barely filled or completely empty go reserve tickets now and leave him standing alone there on the stage,” Laupp told her then-1,000 or so followers on TikTok, normally thought of a platform for dancing teenagers and not, necessarily, political action...

however, CNN have completely changed the article. there’s no mention of 16 June date as at Tulsa World; simply has updated 21 Jun. different text with the exception of a few bits:

updated 21 Jun: CNN: TikTok users are trying to troll Trump’s campaign by reserving tickets for Tulsa rally they’ll never use
by Donie O’Sullivan; Additional reporting from CNN’s Sarah Westwood, Ryan Nobles, DJ Judd and Betsy Klein.
(scroll down) The grandmother who helped spark the effort, Laupp, said the Trump campaign will “find bodies to put in seats.”...
Laupp told CNN she had heard from people this week who had not known about the Tulsa massacre, and that “we as American citizens owe it to marginalized communities to know those parts of history.”

She said she plans on continuing to use her newfound TikTok platform in the months leading up to November’s election.
Having voted for Gary Johnson in 2016, she describes herself as a libertarian and while she is not yet sure if she will vote for former Vice President Joe Biden in the fall, she says she knows she will not vote for President Trump.
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/16/politics/tiktok-trump-tulsa-rally-trnd/index.html

promoted below as well, with original CNN article in full:

16 Jun updated 16 Jun: ABC7: TikTok users are trying to troll Trump’s campaign by reserving tickets for Tulsa rally they’ll never use
By Donie O’Sullivan, CNN
President Donald Trump says almost 1 million people had requested tickets to attend his upcoming rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. But some who have registered for the free event, which is scheduled to ETC...

Laupp, who works at a high school and signed up to TikTok earlier this year, told CNN the video blew up overnight.
And then, alongside the choreographed dances, comedic dares and schoolyard pranks, the grandmother’s prompt became a challenge of its own. Inspired users began posting videos showing they too registered for the event — similar posts on Instagram and Twitter clocked up thousands of likes.

Her idea prompted multiple other TikTok users to post similar videos calling on their followers to do the same — visit the website, register for the event, fail to show up.
One video, with more than a quarter of a million views, called on fans of South Korean pop music in particular to join the trolling campaign...And they have a history of taking action for social justice causes.
Earlier this month K-pop fans rallied around the Black Lives Matter movement, drowning out “White Lives Matter” and other anti-black hashtags...

(Laupp) said she plans on continuing to use her newfound TikTok platform in the months leading up to November’s election...
