Stelter and the NY Times, for that matter, clearly don’t understand how Trump’s rallies operate. Everyone with a valid email address or text number can get a ‘ticket’ to the rally. That’s why over a million tickets were issued. Then, at the site, it’s first come, first served to get in the doors. When the building is full, the doors are closed. No one else can get in, and the late comers can either stand outside and watch on the remote screens, or they can go home.
The fact that there were large numbers of people outside watching on the screens meant that there was a full house inside, as well. As many who could safely fit inside were there. All the Tictoc tickets did, if anything, was inflate the numbers of requesters, giving even more bragging rights to Trump. Don’t expect CNN or NYT to tell you this.
