Massively important news: The Supreme Court ruled Monday that a landmark civil rights law protects gay and transgender workers from workplace discrimination, handing the movement for L.G.B.T. equality a stunning victory. The vote was 6 to 3, with Justice Neil M. Gorsuch writing the majority opinion. He was joined by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. The case concerned Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bars employment discrimination based on race, religion, national origin and sex. The question for the justices was whether that last prohibition discrimination because of sex applies to many millions of gay and transgender workers. It is hard to overstate the magnitude of this decision, and the size of the loss to religious and social conservatives. SCOTUS, the highest legal authority in the land, has declared that homosexuality and transgenderism are like race. If you disagree, you are on the side of Klansmen, in effect. This is not just the opinion of Democratic lawmakers, or columnists at The New York Times. This is now the law of the land. And it became the law of the land thanks to two Republican justices, Roberts and Gorsuch, who were loyal to their class in the clutch.
President Trump needs to make a statement on this SCOTUS Decision.
Hard to spin this as anything other than a disastrous ruling. Conservatives have to a large extent written off Roberts, but Gorsuch’s betrayal is particularly demoralizing. We need social conservatives to turn out in droves in November, and the judicial argument is key to take part of the base. When Trump’s own appointee pulls this kind of crap on us, it hurts the cause.
Bypassing the lawmakers again and making their own Law
To what end, exactly? Highlight his impotence in the face of a united SCOTUS?
Let's get to the "do more" part of the "talk less, do more" equation. We were told "I'm going to declare antifa a terrorist organization two weeks ago.
OK. Anytime now.
We were warned about Gorsuch.
Desensitizing you for the next betrayal on DACA...
Should read “SCOTUS Routs the Constitution, Again”
Yes we did warn about him .
What a disaster the traitor is .
To what end, exactly?
This is a major if not landmark Decision. Presidents comment on these time of Court Decisions.
So, is Hooters immune to hiring suits when they specify they are looking for healthy, attractive, friendly, well-endowed waitresses... or does it have to hire every weirdo who asks for a job?
During the days of the Cold War, did it ever occur to you that you would live to see the day that traditional American and Christian values would be honored more in Russia than in the USA?
Not only that but a christain bookstore must hire the tranny.
Im afraid voters will do the opposite. They may think why bother voting. Trump was stopped at every move by a judge stopping his agenda. And we got Supreme Court picks that might have been picked by a democrat president. I see some doing that.
gorsuch indicated right from the start he was partial to gay agenda- when gays pressed hm on rulings-
I doubt that book store will be open after this mess. Coronavirus is killing off so many businesses. Only the 1% businesses will end up making it.
I will vote for Trump, but I have no illusions that it will change anything.
Did they deign to leave any protections for religious institutions?
Yeah, that was kinda my point. We need high turnout in order for Trump to win, but this crappy ruling may undermine that. It’s hard to tell a social conservative that he absolutely positively must turn out to ensure more Trump SCOTUS picks... when Gorsuch has stabbed us in the back.
