Chad Daybell has been taken into custody after human remains were found on his Idaho property Tuesday morning, Rexburg Police Assistant Chief Gary Hagen said at a news conference.
Daybell is the husband of Lori Vallow, whose two children have been missing since September.

I understand that overhead imagery can help determine whether the soil in a given area has been disturbed. I have to wonder whether this was a factor in the discovery - drones or light aircraft flying overhead and taking pictures for further examination.

Same here. I decided early on, not to get too involved with it. There seems to be at very least, three sub-plots swirling around each other. End result is tragedy, where nobody looks good or truly ‘wins’. Leave to to the courtrooms to deal with.

It gets very cold in Idaho. It might only be now when the ground thawed enough to use radar and excavation of the site.
