Donny Deutsch was trying to paint Joe Biden as a comforting figure. But he picked perhaps the worst, most unintentionally hilarious, metaphor imaginable: Joe Biden at the wheel of a car as the nation's "designated driver." He doesn't somehow see that Biden's often bumbling interview answers make you wonder if he would know where he's supposed to drive.
On today's Morning Joe, riffing off poll numbers showing that 80% of the country thinks things are out of control, Deutsch said:
"Everybody's been so worried about Joe Biden, is he the right guy? I think he’s the perfect guy. He is comfort. We have a drunk driver, he’s the designated driver to get us home."

Deutch’s argument for Biden is a metaphor. Nothing literal. We’re going to see a lot of that between now and November, especially from Never Trumper loons.

Biden is the old timer who forgets what gear he’s in and ends up driving his car through the front of a 7-11. Still can’t believe that after half the Democrats in the country entered the race for the nomination, the best they could come up with was Joe Braindead Biden.
“Dr.” Jill will only allow Joe to drive one quarter mile down to the store for Old Folks Hour at 8 am. She insists on driving when they go to the Early Bird dinner special at 4 pm.

I don’t there is a state in the union that would give senior Biden a drivers license. He has no idea where he is at any moment and would be a danger to everyone on the road and to himself.
