Every black family I know who has a son, worries about how they're going to fare when they leave the house, and now we've seen examples when you don’t even have to leave your house and you're put in harm's way. And I think that although I believe in peaceful demonstrations, I think these riots are symptomatic of a boiling over of anger that has been building up for generations, where people have lost confidence that the justice system will actually be just, that the rule of law will protect them.....

And who has been pounding that drumbeat for generation after generation? Teaching young black people that they have no place in society? Teaching them to mistrust law enforcement even while criminals freely prey upon the families that are just trying to live their lives? Teaching them that their own failures are the fault of some ambiguous "racism" instead of teaching them the skills and attitudes they need to succeed? And, above all, what did Obama do to change that culture of failure?
