So right now, our governors and mayors in my state, Hawaii have extended the lockdown twice. Originally, the lockdown was supposed to end on April 30, then extended to May 31, and now extended to June 30. Even though businesses are slowly opening in my state as months go by, some businesses will never come back, because of the government's orders or the business is doomed even before the lockdown happens. Schools are closed right now which means less "learning" time (if you know what I mean) for kids.
Now, from my perspective, I believed that people in Hawaii in generally obedient even if they disagree with the lockdown. Anyone disagree with the lockdown outloud, especially protesting the lockdown will be seen as uncaring, selfish, causing more trouble, etc. Let alone the fact that Hawaii is a heavily democratic state. The only thing I agree is having people go on a 14 day quarantine which is in effect right now, even if you are traveling from one island to another within Hawaii. Otherwise, businesses regardless shouldn't have to close or restrict their service by the government just because other states are doing it or a fear of resurgence in Hawaii. If people wants to be safe, they can do it themselves, but we should not get the government involved with this shutdown.
In my circles in Los Angeles I am finding about a 50-50% split between paranoid lockdowners and open ‘em up fans. An awful lot of people hear the crap our mayor says and put up their middle finger. Others wear their masks everywhere, probably in the shower too.
Been to Hawaii. Nothing special there that you can’t enjoy on the mainland.
It is also due to Hawaii’s compliant Asian population. It’s a cultural thing

After we settled in, we noticed a couple in a booth a couple of tables away. He was a swarthy chap. She, well, it was hard to tell what she looked like because she was completely covered up. She did mange to eat, however. She’d raise her fork, delicately lift her face cover pop in the food and let it down.
Once again, our muslim neighbors are showing us the way.

It reminds me when WV opened up gambling and Marylanders just drove there to gamble.
And the PA Dem governor imposed alcohol probation, but they can drive to Maryland and buy it here.

The Hawaii model is the model the US uses for people coming in from China. You come in, self quarantine for 14 days. Hawaii is naturally lucky to have a great uv index and a similar climate year round.
Hell, the people there participated. They BRAG about seeking out and ratting on tourists. They surf social media looking for people to turn into the police.
