So right now, our governors and mayors in my state, Hawaii have extended the lockdown twice. Originally, the lockdown was supposed to end on April 30, then extended to May 31, and now extended to June 30. Even though businesses are slowly opening in my state as months go by, some businesses will never come back, because of the government's orders or the business is doomed even before the lockdown happens. Schools are closed right now which means less "learning" time (if you know what I mean) for kids.
Now, from my perspective, I believed that people in Hawaii in generally obedient even if they disagree with the lockdown. Anyone disagree with the lockdown outloud, especially protesting the lockdown will be seen as uncaring, selfish, causing more trouble, etc. Let alone the fact that Hawaii is a heavily democratic state. The only thing I agree is having people go on a 14 day quarantine which is in effect right now, even if you are traveling from one island to another within Hawaii. Otherwise, businesses regardless shouldn't have to close or restrict their service by the government just because other states are doing it or a fear of resurgence in Hawaii. If people wants to be safe, they can do it themselves, but we should not get the government involved with this shutdown.
Totally agree
Oregon, hands down. Gov who has imposed restrictions despite a very benign covid case load has 82% approval, restaurants are afraid to open, and many businesses are protesting that we are “opening too early”.
Hawaii is #1.
Welcome to Free Republic,
yada, yada, yada.
The reason Hawaii is obedient is it has a long history of prior deadly epidemics brought in by outsiders, including leprosy, smallpox, plague and the Spanish flu. So islanders are well aware what an epidemic can do and how badly it can impact a closed island society. The rest is common sense, which seems to be largely lacking in large parts of the Mainland.
Idaho people obedient to unlawful orders.....hahahahaha.
Idaho people obedient to unlawful orders.....hahahahaha.
yup
Yeah, I almost posted that I don’t know which one has the most obedient but I have a nominee for least. It’s too soon to post some of the stuff I’ve seen but it’s been a hoot.
The obedience of a State’s citizens is inversely proportional to the ease of which to obtain and variety of available firearms they can possess ....
I feel for you. Stateside you can still jump in your car and get away, cross state lines if need be. You are on your own. I am a little surprised that across the individual islands there is uniformity. Is there no island that is more libertarian, if not conservative, in comparison?
Hawaii has the 3rd lowest COVID cases

Actual sub title from a newspaper headline in Oregon today:
Part of the problem with dining out is that customers cant wear masks while eating.
I will never visit Hawaii again ever, it went total police state and the people loved it.
“Part of the problem with dining out is that customers cant wear masks while eating.”
Who knew? ;)
In my case, there are conservatives and libertarian in Hawaii. It’s just that they are not that vocal compare to U.S. mainland. We had a lockdown protest on May 1st at our state capitol, but that was it. Few protestors got arrest, because they were not “socially distancing” as far as what I heard.
If they don’t like it there then they can go back to the Marquesas Islands from whence they came.
Best comment I’ve seen. Heck yes the people here adore the police state we have here. It’s driving me nuts.
Obedient??? Being a dispicable cowardly sheep is NOT being “obediant”
