Switzerland Consults Actual Science and Decides to Reopen Its Schools

As we, in the land of the free and the home of the brave, respond to the Wuhan pandemic by hunkering down, whimpering at the thought of society reopening and search in vain for a new set of brown trousers to wear with our fashionable face mask, an interesting experiment is underway in Europe. In Sweden, which has done basically nothing at all in response to the virus, the death rate per one million of population remains significantly lower than American states that have instituted the most draconian regulations.

That’s right, you can actually have your economy and a life that isn’t limited to hiding under your bed and deal with Wuhan virus, too.

Unlike here, some European countries are concluding that the virus isn’t quite a dangerous as the modelers and public health nazis would have us believe. Switzerland has announced that it will reopen schools on May 11.

According to the Federal Council, all compulsory primary classes, closed since the government declared the state of emergency on March 16th, should resume on May 11th. This includes two years of kindergarten, followed by six years of primary school.

Secondary and vocational schools, as well as universities, are expected to resume on June 8th.

Why would they do that?

The Swiss have analyzed data available on children and Wuhan virus and found that the viral load, that is, the quantity of virus carried in the blood, of children with Wuhan virus is extremely low. This, in their estimation, is what accounts for the large number of asymptomatic children. The implication from this observation is that children simply can’t carry enough virus to infect another person, whether it be playmate, sibling, parent, or granny in the old folks home. When children do get the virus, they are usually not seriously affected. So far, Europe has had a total of two children die from the effects of Wuhan virus, one in France and one in Italy. Of the 3,200 people hospitalized in Switzerland from the virus, only 18 are children.

Based on science, not modeling, the Swiss have elected to reopen their schools.

And if they are wrong? Well, they are no worse off than Sweden and better off than the US.

If that process were followed in the US, we’d be reopened tomorrow. Empirically, we know that the death rate this year is lower than it was two years ago. We know that California definitely had carriers of Wuhan virus present in mid-January, and quite possibly in November and December. There was no spike in deaths there and the death toll in CA remains lower than that of Kansas, at less than 25% of the US average death rate. We know from the USS Theodore Roosevelt experience that even without ‘social distancing’ and with a large number of people living in very close quarters that the virus simply does not spread as rapidly as the models predict it spreads WITH draconian limits on activity.

In short, our policies are not being driven by science in the hypothesis-experiment-evaluate sense but by science in the sense of some rando with a secret-sauce model and a megaphone to the press creating a panic and science in the sense of what some ‘expert’ feels we should be doing.

Nothing we are doing is getting us better results that countries literally doing nothing. Our policies are driven by the political agenda of a scientific priesthood that seems bound and determined to impoverish us and our children. This nonsense we are inflicting upon ourselves needs to stop and stop fast.

But that's real science. I know cause that same guy told me about global warming.

Please, please reopen the schools.

Putting in an 8 hour day at the kitchen table, makeshift office or den, and supervising, entertaining and homeschooling kids is bringing parents to a breaking point.

A Zoom meeting with colleagues and boss while kids scream, “Stop it, I'm telling,” in the background is crazy. And Nanas are quarantined and cannot help.

Based on science, not modeling

Only a scientific ignoramus would write a totally meaningless statement like that.

By stating that virus level are low in children and therefore they don't transmit the disease, they have created ... ready for this... A MODEL, which they then use to predict a future outcome.

That is what modeling is. Nothing more, nothing less. That they don't have a mathematical model from which to make numerical predictions only means that his is a rather sloppy model. But model it is.

There is a broadly held view that if you can't build a model to make future predictions that you can compare against data, you are not doing science at all.

The general ignorance on this subject demonstrates an appalling failure of education in this country.

This is appalling ignorance. You may not like the modeling we are doing - fine. No argument. But our hypotheses about infectiousness, recovery, mortality, transmission mechanisms, etc. go into mathematical models which generate predictions about what will happen. We then evaluate this against observation.

Get the wrong result, you adjust the model. Underestimate how much Americans will actually avoid each other based upon suggestions from the government, adjust the model.

Yes the model is wrong, but that doesn't mean you aren't doing science. That is what doing science looks like.

One thing science will never do is solve political problems for you. Final scientific solutions always give you bigger political problems than the one you were trying to fix.

It would be nice if this Swiss study could be translated from French to English..... This would be a total bombshell if children are not capable of transmitting the virus to others..... We know the mainstream media won’t cover this... Any French-speaking Freepers out there who can have a go at this please?

HAHA, I don't have kids but you paint a realistic picture

Don't forget to wear your face homemade coverings (not a N95 please) when you zoom into work to show you care.

Evaluate against observation? Don’t make me laugh.

Observation happens in the real world every day.

“Scientific Studies “ happen in research centers based on models paid for by political operatives who must be PC to have their models selected over real world observed results.

Anybody who thinks “scientific studies” are not biased to fit the desires of the client that funds them have never observed political polls in the newspapers.

Copernicus was almost burned at the stake because of “settled.science.”, and that was before Billion dollar Pharmaceuticals, and Communist Globalist insurgencies.

Zinc blocks viral activity, some more than others. HCQ stimulates zinc adsorption so it nukes COVID.

All studies to disprove Quinine exclude zinc. So they are NOT observational studies, they are carefully tailored to NOT observe healing but to “prove” that healing does not occur. That is a pure political operation to obscure actual results. That is trying once again to burn science at the stake. So wear the white coat and drape the talismanic stethoscope around their necks, but it’s a priesthood, not science I am observing.

Great rant. I have no idea WTF you are talking about.

There is all the difference in the world between politics dressing itself as science and science.

And when you publish something as settled fact and it is easily shown to conflict with observation, you are doing science. You are testing a hypothesis against data. That you have disproven the hypothesis is what science is all about.

And there are many absolutely brilliant scientists in Israel. You could learn something by talking to them. Indeed a lot of the reason jews are so good at science is that doing science is an awful lot like Talmudic disputation.

I don't even know where to start on correcting your appalling ignorance. But look in a mirror because you will see the public face of the kinds of ignorance that causes scientists to despise conservatives.

Yet these same “Doctors” love Liberals...

Yeah appalling ignorance that you cannot BEGIN to address. Because you simply cannot refute it, so its ignorance that you cannot address.

Try, just a little. Start by trying to understand what I said instead of trying to understand it by fitting it INTO your world view. Observation begins with looking OUTSIDE your world view. Ignorance is “ignoring” what does not fit your world view.

Politically Correct is a nice way of saying Believe a Lie because it does not fit the world view of those “in the know”.

I ain’t a buying it.

Observation: the model method does not work if the modeler has bias, divination by Artificial Intelligence is a fancy way of setting the parameters to get the result you expect and then blaming the computer not the person who set the parameters.

Using Computer Modeling to achieve a Political result does not validate the Politics any more than the American Heart Association study used to show that Vitamin E is harmful to the heart intentionally biased by using artificial Vitamin E instead of natural Vitamin E.

They either are too stupid to know that D alpha tocopherol is different from L alpha tocopherol, or expect us to not know because we are not Doctors. (I read the labels)

But the other studies, many times larger and with parallel findings showed that the use of 400 units of natural vitamin E daily reduces heart disease by 50%. No typo, 50, not 5.

Studies also found was that when L alpha was mixed with D alpha the body flushes out the artificial vitamin E along with a portion of the existing natural vitamin E.

Some how the American Heart Association did not study the studies that were causing a stir and used a 9 person study with 100% L alpha tocopherol to discount the taking of vitamin E. In fact they spent over 2 million dollars in media advertisements to fight the use of vitamin E.

After all, it would reduce their Billion dollar industry by half...

So a 9 person study that was tailored to achieve a predetermined result was used to obscure multiple studies with hundreds of patients over years of study for a Political Result.

And tens of thousands of people died and continue to die needlessly. All over the desire to have patients to treat instead of healthy people and donations.

How about the Cancer Industry. Yes those two words we are familiar with should NEVER be together...

Clue, get one.

Covid, don’t. Not without zinc in your diet, and a diet that is a healthy one. If 98% of what you eat is fried and brown, COVID is a very real danger to you.

Oh, that’s from a study that found by observation that most people dying from Covid have an unusual predominance of two strains of gut bacteria that are co-factors of Obesity and Diabetes. The study proposed that Covid may be a Bacteriophage and the runaway toxic death syndrome may be linked to the infection of those strains of bacteria by covid.

No Model can predict this kind of outcome because no modeler can discover anything new. They only model what they already understand.

THAT is the DIFFERENCE between Observational Science and Predictive Science.

So I have explained in length my PC comment, and at length the difference between modeling and observational science.

You have only offered scorn of me or of others.

I observe you must be a Democrat for you surely fit the model.
