Now is the time to consider the possibility that the coronavirus lockdowns ordered by some states will turn into a public policy calamity, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume argued Monday night.

Appearing on "Fox News @ Night" with host Shannon Bream, Hume said that sustained damage to the economy and the lives of over 20 million recently unemployed Americans may not heal after implementing "draconian" measures.

It was the safe route to take. The media cheered it. The damage will be played off as a necessary evil, and will be blamed on President Trump.

Meanwhile, wannabe dictators like Herr DeWine are having the time of their lives.

He’s stating the obvious but I’m also concerned that restarting the economy might be slow and difficult.

And there will be a growing war between those that want to mingle again and those that don’t.

The only savior will be medical products.

The best science says that the mortality rate is approximately 0.2% - just a little worse than the common flu. This was based on antibody studies by Stanford in the Bay Area and UCLA in the LA area.

I shared those numbers with a good friend of mine, who is liberal and has sincely worried about the dangers of the virus over the last month (every time I talk with him, he asks me if me and my family are safe and well). His reaction: “If those numbers are right, this is all going to look very silly.”

The idiot reporters on the TV may not be able to interpret statistics, but people with any brain are going to begin to understand that this is a situation where we are going to have to balance risks.

We’re all very lucky that Brit broke away from the country club long enough to bestow his wisdom upon us.

The only people that seem to be clamoring To get back to work seem to be right wingers. Every single liberal that I know is happy to be staying home for an indefinite period of time.

It is. People have actual things like rent that aren’t going away while they hide in their houses. They are itching to get back to work and into the world. It was novel and they felt like they were doing good for a month but everywhere you look people are saying ‘okay, so the death toll is down. Why are we still locked inside?’ Disobedience of these lockdown orders from dictatorial governors is coming and fast.

I believe you’re right. There’s a worldwide race on to find effective therapeutics and a vaccine. Just the existence of treatments will relieve a lot of the anxiety. I don’t think that’s far away.

Any correlation between getting assistance, working for big tech or government employee? Also getting an extra 60O per week wouldn’t encourage anyone to return to work, they are short sighted.

Good. Let them stay at home under their beds while good, hearty Americans get the country back up and running.

I have zero sympathy for their ‘fears’.

************

1. The idiot reporters are stumbling all over themselves to dramatize and sensationalize this, just like they do with everything they “report” on. They will toss out any numbers that grab headlines or keep viewers watching. Remember, if it bleeds it leads.

2. You are absolutely right — balancing risks, costs and benefits is part of daily living.
