STORY HIGHLIGHTS * The majority of Americans (57%) are worried about getting COVID-19 * Just shy of half, 48%, fear severe financial hardship befalling them * Partisanship strongly colors both concerns
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- As the country endures an unprecedented shutdown of public life to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, more Americans are worried about contracting the illness (57%) than about experiencing severe financial problems from the disruption caused by it (48%).
While most of those who are worried about each of these possibilities say they are only "somewhat worried," slightly more are "very worried" about encountering financial hardship (17%) than getting the virus (12%).

Adults With Certain Diseases Are Most Anxious About COVID-19
Bottom Line - Since the implementation of mass social distancing last month, which has routed the U.S. economy, most Americans have perceived that the country is in a recession or even depression, but thus far it's the minority who have reported that their own personal finances have suffered (emphasis mine).

Of course, it is "minority" so far that suffered personal financial hardship. Only 22 million Americans" (and their families) filed for unemployment since the start of the pandemic. Geesh!
Obviously failed to get through to me. :-)
As valid as Gallup's fake survey, my one-person survey of me concludes financial harm will overtake fear of the virus by at least an order of magnitude (if that's even possible in surveys) within the next two weeks.
Obviously failed to get through to me. :-)
I see you also never believe what the MSM peddles ,LOL
This will change.
Now THAT’S scary! That would mean there are so many people getting “free money” from the governments printing presses than people earning their own way.
This shows that mass media and their COVID Mania has worked. Those that pay attention to the MSNBACBAABCCNN have their heads up and locked and there isn’t a way to convince them otherwise. The Sheeple are frightened. They’re all going to die!
This mania is a flu like disease the has passed a epidemic threw the air via radio and TV.
The Administration should have been publicizing the disastrous effects of the lockdown all along.
Many are sleep-depraved with global warming anxiety.
I say BS!!!
So now I know for sure this is all horsecrap, when they roll out the polls to tell me what to believe...
gee I wonder what the purpose of this poll is.
“Only” 48% of public concerned about economic shutdown and personal finances. Well, that’s a relief! /s
My anecdotal experience is the same. I have many liberal friends and acquaintances, and not a single one is eager to go back to work. The only people I hear are agitating and anxious to go back are my right winger and Christian friends.
“This mindset may continue while thousands of new cases and associated deaths occur each day, but it could change as the disease comes under better control and the economic fallout is more apparent.
Such a shift in Americans’ mindset could be one inflection point policymakers are looking for to determine when to start lifting restrictions and getting Americans back to something like “normal.””
This is happening already. Watch the survey flip in the next week.
I think this is largely a propaganda push poll but it should be 100% concerned about the economic impact. It reflects the financial illiteracy we have.
Pathetic, low-I.Q. sheep.
Nonsense poll intended for Trump to keep our economy tanked
thus hurting Trump and the GOP in the coming general election.
