I have a millennial living with me, who got laid off thanks to the virus. Beforehand, she was spending her time partying & traveling. Racked up credit card debt, which she was trying to pay off when this happened.
She told me she regrets failing to set up a savings account. The $600 stimulus check (she worked part-time) she proudly told me she put into a savings account.
She at least has her parents as a cushion. Now she is terrified if they get the virus.
Interesting to see how she changed overnight from party girl to adult -- her whole mood, persona. The corona virus is probably what the 1929 stock market crash was to the flappers.
Trauma usually results in change. For many people, this virus episode and resulting economic calamity is a trauma. A lot of people are going to be making permanent changes going forward.
