This economic catastrophe is going to be an opportunity for Trump to gut federal regulations and abolish a bunch of federal agencies.

If he does that, the sky is the limit.

“I know automotive technicians and industrial electricians that are very creative and deep thinkers. “

I have a best friend and cousin who do both 30+ years each. They are bored out of their minds. One rebuild trans in Cat bulldozers. Done it so many time he can do it in his sleep. The other is a commercial electrician. Trying to dig through frozen ground or pull wire at 10 below on a new construction project gets old.

Both get paid very well but told their kids to get a desk job as an engineer etc.

Most trades jobs do not pay well unless you are union or self employed

On the other hand my accountant will admit to being bored out of his mind. Face it most jobs/careers are full of repetitive tasks that are boring. A guy I went to high school with went to work for GM on an assembly line - he put bolts in holes for 30 years. Biggest pot smoker on Earth and boring to talk to. Hobbies and mind development are important and critical to good outlook(s) on life. One of my employees was a brake tech at a local dealer - did between 20 and 30 brake jobs a day on flat rate. Made a ton of money. He had a board and kept track of every job and what the money allowed him to do - for example - job 1 = one day hunting in Alaska.
