Sweden has banned public gatherings of 50 or more people and closed high schools and universities to curb the spread of the coronavirus, but for the most part its residents are free to go about their normal lives. While Swedes are still out and about, residents of France and Italy are subject to fines and jail time if they leave their homes for an unapproved reason under the countries' respective lockdown measures

Whatever you might think of Sweden’s approach from the onset of the pandemic, I think we can agree that this should be the model on how we start unwinding from the lockdown, unless you live in Michigan or Virgina. You’re screwed there.
The case fatality Rate in Sweden is now over 10%.
The cases per million are below the US, but the Sweden didn’t start having new cases until March. I think they had a couple of cases come in earlier from other countries, but they were well contained.
I don’t know - Cooper in NC is not too far behind. He is about to direct his elections czar to mandate vote by mail. This in a state where .005 % of the population is affected.

Case fatality rate (fraction) is meaningless unless you tested everyone (as denominator). If you only test symptomatic patients, you’ll always get a higher fraction, due to misleading denominator. This has been proven time and again. It’s really basic.
Per capita mortality rate is what is most important, and Sweden is right in the middle of the pack. Of course.

The high case fatality rate implies that Sweden isn’t testing much. Which blows your claim that “Sweden is right in the middle of the pack” out of the water.
Or maybe they are in the middle of the pack and just are horrible at curing them.
What a lot of folks do not understand is the US is not almost over...NY is almost over the top. It is spreading from there.
The US is probably at the end of the beginning. But there are surges yet to come all over the country.
This is what happens when all of your media is in one place.
Millions of people are going to die worldwide because of the shutdown.
But that’s a small price to pay for virtue-signalling.
