Random thoughts about the current American condition

The media are trying to con the public when it comes to blaming Trump for America’s allegedly “failed” response to COVID-19. Wolf Howling put up a very useful timeline in which he contrasts the president’s actions, the Democrats’ and media’s contradictory statements, and the number of sick and dead at the time the president was acting and the Dems were talking. It’s quite apparent that Trump responded quickly the moment COVID-19 touched down in America, and that his response was usually quite consistent with the increasing perception of a threat. In other words, Trump has nothing to be ashamed of in terms of the timeliness of his response.

The somewhat slippery Tony Fauci was explicit that he and Deborah Birx only had to make a recommendation for one form of mitigation or another to have Trump accept it. Whether Trump regrets some of those steps is unknown, but it’s clear that he was not making decisions based on either ego or the economy. He was making them based upon public health recommendations.

The media’s escalating lies about Trump’s alleged failures are consistent with the old legal advice given to a lawyer with a losing case. The following version comes from the Quote Investigator. According to that site, this 1925 quotation is the second oldest usage of this tried and true legal advice. I like it because it doesn’t say “pound the table,” which is the variation most lawyers know. Instead, it says “Abuse the other fellow’s attorney,” which is precisely what the media are doing to Trump because they’ve got nothing else.

To expect DJT to be smarter than every Wall Street market professional is not reasonable.

The referenced Trump-Coronavirus timeline can be found HERE

A very good timeline that shows no U.S. deaths until the one on February 29. Worth bookmarking. You need to scroll down a bit to get to the day by day listing.

The financial and potential war fallout from all of this is just starting.

The entire lockdown/quarantine/shelter-in-place legacy is the byproduct of the gotcha media, just like the Iraq war was.

Whenever a Republican president faces a crisis, he has to deal with it actively, or any (and all) consequences of that crisis will be laid on his bosom to bare like a burning and searing symbol and curse. Inaction doesn’t seem like it’s a tool in any Presidents box, but when a crisis arises, the media hounds the POTUS with a constant barrage of “why didn’t you do more”, and he knows it’s coming before it ever happens.

If Obama was still in office, I am quite sure that there would have been plenty of power to grab. That much is easy to predict. But what’s ironic is, I am also fairly confident that he would have done far less to actively mitigate the spread, and with the state of how the media handles ‘news’ during a democrat presidency, I’m sure we would have been coddled with re-assuring punditry about how we are lucky to have such a great President, and heard so very little negativity about how much sickness and even death was occurring.

Only 8 months into his Presidency, Bush was blasted with scorn for not stopping 9-11, not because the media really wanted him to become an intense and driven NeoCon, but because they saw a perfect dead albatross and they knew they had the power to hang it on his neck, and didn’t look one second past the consequences of that power.

We are stuck with dolts Fauci and Birx, not because they are wield Machiavellian-like strings on Trump, but because Trump was absolutely sure that he would be made to wear the stigma of every single corona fatality that appearances of inaction would get him.

Sometimes I think I view Fauci and the health care leadership in a dark light. My wife asked me what possible gain would it be for Fauci to be dishonest about when American’s can go back to work and she didn’t buy my ivory tower explanation. That he just can’t help himself and doesn’t appreciate the average American needs to work for a living. She obviously sees the good in people by default. My only response that made sense to me is he doesn’t want to be the one who estimates 100,000 dead for it to come out as 1 million. Essentially covering his butt to maintain his reputation. Not sure what to think butt he certainly continues to throw water on Trump’s fire.
