McConnell: Impeachment Distracted Trump Administration From Early Coronavirus Threat

During an interview Tuesday morning with syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the Democrats' obsession with impeachment in the first month of this year distracted the Trump administration from the threat of coronavirus.

"It came up while we were tied down in the impeachment trial. And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment," he said.

Shut up, Mitch! YOU were tied down by the impeachment show trial, and now you lump the whole Trump admin into it. President Trump is the one who could talk and chew gums at the same time.

Just when you want to praise McConnell, he done and did/said something stupid. Just so that he could be in the media spotlight or something.

Never accept the left’s narrative Mitch. Trump acted way ahead of time shutting down China travel and he was called a racist and xenophobe for it.

Headline is another media-spun lie:

"It came up while we were tied down in the impeachment trial. And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment," he said

This is not a coincidence. We are slow-motion watching the next election being stolen.

Right, Mitch is a fool. Do not accept the premise. The GOP is hopeless I swear.

Ooooh Big Man, Mitch.

Yeah he already got his piece of the pie from the first Economic Stimulus Package, now he comes out against another one.

Oh stop it. He’s been doing a good job.

But he’s absolutely right. The Dems have been attacking Trump simply for breathing, and this distracts from everything. Plus it makes everything very political.

Notice how soon Pelosi sallied forth to attack Trump. Notice how she would not let the relief bill pass until she had gotten at least some of her pork (most of which was stripped out in the deal).

If the Dems had supported the US, this would have been a difficult but not devastating problem. Their lack of support and outright antagonism has made it devastating. And I think McConnell is doing the best he can.

Who in our times would have thought this could happen? Destruction of constitutional rights, attacks on private property (ownership of companies), suppression of religious gatherings...the virus is not unprecedented, but the reaction certainly is, and I think McConnell is doing a good job.

Exactly. Forget the made-up headline. McConnell’s statement is fair. The overall government was distracted during the impeachment. The dems own that.

RIGHT-—??!!

Distracted?? N O T! The prez was and is wholly committed to the problem... his media presence then and NOW is a clear and irrefutable record on that... if a proof is needed for these idiots.

Anyway-Billy Boy would have been knee deep in interns by now...

Schumer went nuts over him shutting China out. And Pelosi went to the China Town Festival AFTER the initial warning.

And they were BOTH wrong.

I think Congress should pass a law that says in a crisis no pork can be added to a relief bill and if so the POTUS can cross it out of the bill.

Mitch is being steady through all this - instead of panicking, folks need t realize that he’s saying the Dems (who run the Congress) were so obsessed with impeachment they could not be distracted for actual business...they kept the Repubs in the House and Senate diverted while they were at it...that’s the “we/the government” part of his statement - the Dems had just enough attention to slam the President for taking the actions he did because while he was “dealing with” the impeachment sideshow, he was also tending to business.

Mitch was mostly right, but DjT seems to be the only one not distracted during January’s impeachment activities.

Sorry you feel the way you do.

>>> Oh stop it. He’s been doing a good job.

I said, just when you think McConnell was doing a good job then he spoiled it. I’d just as soon HAPPY not to hear any of the Mitch behind the scenes machination in the news.

Even if Mitch thinks no one can predict the severity of the coronavirus threat, his use of the Royal WE showed his naivety however long he’s within the DC circus. You’d never ever seen/heard any Democrat admit any such thing.

Let me know how does Mitch McConnell said publicly the Trump Admin was distracted from early threat of coronavirus pandemic help in any way shape or form?
