A Crooner Cure for the Corona Blues: Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Please Release Me, Let Joe Go” (new lyrics)
YouTube Song: Please Release Me, Let Me Go ^ | Song Released in 1989 | Engelbert Humperdinck

Do millennials FReepers even now what a crooner. is? Well they include: Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, and Engelbert Humperdinck to name a few famous male singers of that era.

Thanks to a tip on Larry Schweikart’s twitter page, I was transported back to Engelbert Humperdinck and his magical ballad, Please Release Me, Let Me Go.

We’ve lost something special from the era when crooners ruled the Billboard charts.  Fortunately, even as we’re cooped up at home against a deadly virus, we can turn on the YouTube dial and call up all sorts of music to remember and lull ourselves into a nostalgic or melancholy mood.

Over the past week, some wishful-thinking Dems got their hearts aflutter over a certain charismatic “Never-that-Great” politician from New York.   This seems to have caused a change of heart by the “presumed nominee”, Joe O’Biden, who penned the following new stanzas to the song:

Please Release Me (Let Joe Go)

TOPICS: Humor; Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: crooner; humperdinck

FRiends. Some relaxing music and humor at the expense of Joe O’Biden to make the best of his time.

Thanks, PP.

Will be very interesting to see the changes in persons
and society once this crisis is overcome:

Many more ‘Weight Watchers’ tv ads
A rebirth of Drive In theaters
Less printing ink and paper needed.
Those known as hoarders will be given respect due to their instinct and preparedness.

What do you expect to see?

Engelbert Humperdinck’s cover of Release Me was released in 1966 and became a hit in 1967.

OK, thanks for the correction. I thought the date sounded too recent.

Ha, ha. I predict a fashionable alternative to surgical masks that emits protective spray as cough droplets are detected :- )

Kids will be protected by invisible bubbles over their heads like Elroy of the Jetsons...

Oh, a rise in the bubble boy population.
:-)

Continuing that line of thought,
picture this:
JFK arts,
the receivers of our $75 million (?) tax dollars,
just fired their personnel after the check was signed.
Will the airlines do the same?
Leaving us with no alternative,
the Jetson's family vehicle would come in handy.

We could go the other way. I'd like to see a return of train travel. Luxurious train rides are now a hit in Japan.

Agree, however these means of transportation are of little use
when attempting to cross the seas.
Like planes,
they would first need to attempt a reconfiguration of social distance
in the seating arrangement.

Well, as soon as those unemployed journalists learn how to code, I can envision all sorts of opportunity for them designing airships. These are perfect for exploring the sites of the Old World of Europe and the Middle East.

Don't count out the ingenuity of these now enlightened, former Intellectual Yet Idiots :- ) I now ask SunkenCiv to join in for his thoughts on the prospects for future FloatingCiv.
