Diamond posted a video on Twitter of himself and his dog sitting next to the fireplace, which in and of itself is calming enough. But he picked up a guitar and told viewers, I know were all going through a tough time right now. But I love you and I think if maybe we sing together, well, well feel a little bit better.
Diamond then began singing Sweet Caroline which ironically (or tragically if you think about it) seems to predict something is about to happen. Where it began, I cant begin to knowing/But then I know its growing strong, he began. He continued with the original lyrics, singing, Was in the spring/And spring became the summer/Whod have believed youd come along. But just when you think hes some sort of oracle, he changes things up and you cant possibly watch him without smiling.
Hands, washing hands/Dont touch me, I wont touch you, he belts out in his velvety voice, and were all left to wonder if well ever be able to sing it again any differently. The entire two minute, twenty-second video is perfection, new lyrics and all.

Good one. I was sort of surprised Neil’s version didn’t adapt more of the lyrics...
Why not? "Sweet Caroline" has been played between innings at Fenway Park for many years, and other ballparks have picked it up as well.
Kind of appropriate for this non-Opening Day of the 2020 Baseball season.
Saw it the other day, Neil Diamond is a class act. Great American!
I am Red Sox fan and don’t like the lefty owners and that annoying song.
I asked my husband what Sweet Caroline has to do with baseball or the Red Sox.
We were shocked to find it wasn’t even that old a “tradition”, and basically was just a song some entertainment producer at the stadium kept playing? (Don’t quote me, I’m going by memory.)
I like the song, was happy for the Sox finally breaking thru in ‘04 (my grandpa was a huge fan, but about 15 years too late; they last won when he was in French trenches). But I don’t get it.
Does this mean Joe Biden won’t be using it as his campaign theme song?
I couldn’t think of how to proceed any further. Then I see moovova’s “sweet quarantine” (pronounced quar-in-TYNE”?) and I smacked myself in the head. I can’t believe Neil Diamond didn’t think of that, either.
Your words and thoughts are beautiful.
