“Mommy, What Did You Do During the Wuhan Coronavirus War?”

Some day your children or grandchildren will ask you what you did during the Wuhan Coronavirus War. Ensure that you use your time such that you’ll have something to tell them other than “I binged crappy shows on Netflix.”

Do some research, maybe learn a new skill:

Let’s just say that some people were more productive than others during the Great Pandemic of 2020.

If the kid was born 9 months after this hysteria is over, they’ll figure it out when they’re probably 12.

Reminds me of the opening scene in Patton.

In one year, nobody will remember this and everyone will say they didn’t fall for the hype. Been like that for the 22 yrs I’ve been at FR.

Yep.

It’s wise in times like these to read more and post less.

It’s wise in these times to be a lemming and preach doom and gloom in the complete absence of data facts logic or common sense? Lol... stfu.

“Dad, what did you do during The Great Pandemic War of 2020 - 2022?”

“Son, I rode shotgun on a Charmin truck.”

Babies born in 9 months from now will be known as “Quaranteens” in 2033. ;)

OK, but I was agreeing with you.

I try not to hysterically ramble on without having data like some around here do.

Act cautiously and don’t panic.

Sorry.

Having been here for 22 yrs, there is a pattern at FR for people to latch on to events. Saw that first with y2k, many times repeated since.

In some crisis, a group will read every article shoved in front of them and then that group self annoints themselves as “experts”. For example, look at all the virus statisticians we now have?

Like the times before, these lemmings don’t know they’ve been set up, and all the data they use is selectively dribbled to them for the express purpose of...being miscalculated.

For many many many weeks now, we’ve been told that this covid thing is some sort of mathematically expanding doom machine that will kill millions here in the USA if we don’t destroy the economy and hide under our beds. Every day, x times x is supposed to equal.... Well, we’ve gone long enough now to know that this virus thing is less deadly than bus accidents.

All this global disruption, over virtually nothing. Dr Seuss is laughing...

I disagree. I believe this will go down in everyone alive’s memory for the rest of their lives. This is much bigger than JFK’s assassination and 9/11 for that matter in that pretty much everyone’s lives have been touched. This is on a level with WWII. Hopefully we’ll come out of it with fewer casualties.

Thousands died on 9/11 true, but if you were in St Louis, it was something you watched on TV—you didn’t spend weeks on lockdown with virtually everything closed. The seemingly endless wars 9/11 spawned certainly affected many, but the vast majority of Americans went on with their lives if nothing happened.

And all of this is happening world-wide, not just the USA. But if it turns out to be hype, that will in fact turn out to be good news, if you consider the alternative.

No problem.

There’s is another old piece of advice: don’t believe everything you read.

Those who make projections of exponential growth simply don’t understand biological growth. It is not simply exponential. It is a combination of systemic feedback where the host population responds to the virus and vice versa.

It is very similar to the global warmists who predict sea levels rising ad infinitum.

They do it because they have an agendum. Others do it because they are natural pessimists, and finally, there are those who just don’t have a clue.

Bigger than 911, on par with ww2...dang...I’m going to print your response and put it in a keepsake box. That’s absurd that you’d let this become that big in your imagination. Sorry, but that’s just nuts.

Freerepublic has a long history of math related problems like that!

Anyone that has been active here for many years, me 22, has seen the cycle of hysteria. You’d think people would learn but...
