So I was at my local grocery store. I saw a Mom and Son with full 'Chinese Flu' gear.
My mental note said, 'Don't be like this'. So the was a picture taken. Public place - GA.
I walked around and was soon confronted by the 20ish son. He demanded that I delete the picture. I told him 'NO'
I pulled out my copy of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. I told him show me where it says that I cannot do this?
He called the police and I walked by them and nothing was said to me. Hours later, still no show on the police.
20 somethings are mostly snowflakes.
In general you shouldn’t take pictures of people without their approval. It’s not actionable, but it is rude. And when they ask you to delete you get an opportunity to not be a dick. You failed.
Did he confront you aggressively?
You should post the picture everywhere.
If there are consequences, spread them bad boys as thin as you can.
Personally, I say screw ‘em.
No expectation of privacy in a public space.
Many people do not understand the concept that while in public, there is no expectation of privacy. One of the goals of 1st amendment auditors is to educate policy, security and individuals of that very fact. Granted their measures are “in your face” but there is a need for the education and class on the 1st amendment.
I saw a guy in Walmart walking around wearing huge ski goggles and a mask.
I just stopped and laughed.
So youre taking pics of people in a grocery store? Virus or not, thats a weird thing to do. Stop being weird. Come up to me and my son taking pics while everyone is stressed and we will have words
I will not surrender my rights to make people who are out in public.
No Georgia law that I know of says that I cannot take a picture of people in public. I was not being rude or disrespectful.
As Joe Walsh sings - I am just an ordinary average guy with an average life.
Did he maintain a six foot distance when confronting you?
Wow you carry a copy with you wherever you go? Thats great.
Did he confront you aggressively?
Yes
In general one shouldn’t approach strangers with demands. Do you think?
Public photos and videos in public places and public businesses unless posted exemption exists.
I wonder if the family complained about store cameras?
please refer to peopleofwalmart.comm on this practice :o)
If that stranger took your picture without your permission they broke the social contract. If your demand is that the put it back together, there’s really nothing wrong with that.
Did he demand that Walmart delete images of him and his mother from their surveillance videos?
You should be past your petty teen-aged years.
Yes, you had the right to take the picture. It was just stupid to do in these current times...
