The Public Integrity Blind Trust Act of 2020
Effective upon enactment of this Act, the President, all Members of Congress, all Justices of the Supreme Court, all holders of office falling under the definition of the Senior Executive Staff, all public office holders whose appointment requires Confirmation by the Senate, and the spouses of all persons subject to this Act, shall within 30 days of enactment transfer all of their assets into the Public Integrity Blind Trust to be established by this Act. Exempted from the transfer requirement shall be existing irrevocable blind trusts, one personal residence, one alternate residence, two vehicles, and household and personal items with a combined value not to exceed $250,000.
Candidates and appointees for Federal offices falling under this Act shall within 30 days of their declaration of candidacy or nomination comply with the transfer requirements of this Act.
The Public Integrity Blind Trust shall be established pursuant to this Act and shall be governed by a board of three trustees whose term of office shall be two years commencing on the First Tuesday of April in odd-numbered years, this being the midpoint between Federal Elections. The Trustees shall be the then serving chairpersons of the Republican National Committee, the Democratic National Committee, and the Libertarian National Committee. The Trustees shall have an annual operating budget of $50 million.
The transfer of all real property and tangible assets held within the trust shall be noticed in the Federal Register 30 days before said transfer shall be allowed. All other assets placed within the trust shall be invested in a mix of exchange traded funds to be selected by the Trustees, said mix to be noticed in the Federal Register 30 days prior to the adoption of said mix. Assets held within the Trust shall be transferred back to the grantor no earlier than 30 days from their exit from Public Service.
The children and grandchildren of all persons subject to this act shall observe a quiet period to commence 30 days prior through 30 days after each Federal Election, 30 days prior through 30 days after the expiration of the term of office of the Trustees, and, when applicable, 5 days following the nomination or appointment to office for a duration of 30 days.
Failure to comply with the terms of this act shall disqualify the person from holding Public Office for a length of time of no less than two years and shall be an Impeachable Offense. Violations of the quite period observation shall be subject to a 300% excise tax upon the absolute value of the gain or loss of the violating transaction.
Wouldn’t it be better if we had a Constitutional Guarantee that All Citizens were Guaranteed Equal Protection Under the Law??
Only morally upright men can govern themselves, legislation cannot and will not change anything, but certainly can hasten the descent into totalitarianism.
Perhaps the best clause in the Constitution is “Congress shall make no law” and should have been left at that.

Our Forefathers pledged their lives and sacred fortunes so this is not too much to ask.

This is a good idea.
They should also have to make all of their finances public during their term of office for what they are allowed to have outside of the blind trust.
These people and the Founders are morally separated by a great gulf of honor and fidelity.
We know which are where on that spectrum.
