FYI, the blogger is a 25 year veteran nurse, and a big fan of President Trump - is he fear-mongering, or is he being realistic given his knowledge of disease and our health care system? I’m going with door #2 on this one.
FYI, my cousin works for a large hospital in northern NJ, and she just told me that she has attended many meetings over the last few days on the CV. She says that a disaster is coming, very similar to what happened in Italy and for the same reasons - their system got overwhelmed by large numbers of CV victims, and that was compounded by the infection of many docs and nurses. There simply aren’t enough hospital beds, ventilators and ICU beds for all of the victims - many will literally be triaged to death.
This is not the flu. Read the article linked to above - even the CDC has finally woken up (too little, too late, as usual for the incompetent government).
I work with scientific professionals across the country. Not one of them is panicking, but every one of them understands two facts: 1. pandemics occur because of unchecked exponential increase 2. that we are seeing an exponential increase in cases in many places and in particular in the US.
All of them can look at current trends and recognize that in 3 weeks at this rate of increase we will have millions infected and tens of thousands dieing.
And all of them recognize that aggressive action can stop the exponential increase or decrease the rate to a manageable level.
And every single one of them would state that if you don't understand the two facts above and the consequence of those facts should should STFU because you are being irresponsible in the face of a tsunami.
Just compare and contrast with 2009.

You can see it when Cuomo in New York uses his calling martial law as an opportunity to take shots at Trump.
They also want to be a led to control things and thus provides a willing populace to give up rights to travel, associate etc...
