Trump Okay with BLM Resignations [semi-satire]

President Trump's decision to move some of the offices of the Bureau of Land Management geographically closer to the land being managed, has led to more than a 50% attrition rate in the staff. Of the 187 personnel that would be required to relocate 87 have chosen to leave their jobs.

Steve Ellis, who retired from BLM's top career-level post in 2018, denounced the relocation policy as "a brain drain. There is a lot of really solid expertise walking out the door."

Trump, however, sees things differently. "We all know that the bureaucracy is bloated with excess personnel," he said. "Yet Congress refuses to cut the fat out of the budget. By using my executive authority to relocate where federal employees shall discharge their official duties, the results in this small example show a path toward downsizing via a voluntary departure of those who's addiction to the DC swamp outweighs their duty to work for the benefit of the American people."

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raul Grijalva called Trump's decision "another abuse of power. These federal employees have rights. One of those rights is to a secure employment that cannot be disturbed by a change in administrations. I will use my subpoena power to call in employees who have been harmed by this policy to determine if there are new grounds for impeaching the President arising from this action on his part."

Is it even possible to have a “brain drain” in the bureaucracy?

Good move, President Trump. But I heard that we have a shortage of federal bureaucrats in north-central Alaska....

Hah! That is what I thought when it was announced. Some of the drones and viruses will drop off.
