FLASHBACK: Bill Maher and Rick Wilson Called for Recession, Hope to Get Rid of Trump

Looks like the liberal blowhard HBO comedian Bill Maher may be getting his wish. Maher had been begging for a market crash and recession to occur in hopes it would oust President Donald Trump from the White House. In 2018, he sniped, “I feel like the bottom has to fall out at some point, and by the way, I’m hoping for it because I think one way you get rid of Trump is to crash the economy.” Maher continued: “So please, bring on the recession. Sorry if that hurts people, but it’s either root for a recession or you lose your democracy.” Business Insider reported March 9, that “Analysts warned of a global recession Monday as a coronavirus-fueled sell-off dragged stocks, bond yields, and oil prices lower.” [Emphasis added.]

When they say ‘lose our Democracy’ it is 1984 speech. You are supposed to think about elections and self govt by the people, but if you look at #3 on the Democracy definition it says - “the practice or principles of social equality.

Stop all this "Democracy" talk. We have a representative republic. In a democracy, the people make laws and the majority rules. We have elected representative make laws with protections for those in the minority - a bicameral legislature, certain cases of 2/3's and 3/4ths majorities required to pass laws, not a simple majority and an executive with a veto power.

A democracy does not have protection of rights. Our republic has a constitution that protects rights.

Our founding fathers knew of the failure of the Athenian democracy and gave us a republic instead. We need to speak and act like we have a republic or we may lose it. Democracies are terrible things. Those that do not know the difference ... well, I'll leave that to you to figure out.
