1) There should be no early voting, period.
2) Applications for absentee ballots should be required to be signed by three witnesses to the reason why an absentee ballot is warranted. In the case of surgery, these witnesses can be the surgeon, his nurse, and his scheduler. In the case of a mandatory and necessary business trip, the signatories can be the traveling employee’s boss, his boss, and that person’s boss, etc.
3) Allow people to take a $100 credit on their income taxes for volunteering to be a poll watcher.
4) Mandate that employers give employees 4 hours flex time off on election day, which they can require to be made up or PTO taken.
5) Allow certain types of workers, such as fireman, on-call doctors, etc. to go to front of the line at elections.
6) Put a donation check off box on federal income tax forms to allow people to donate to a fund to combat vote fraud.
7) Move election day to the weekend.
8) Allocate money from the vote fraud fund to states based on population and demand states investigate vote fraud and show that they have prosecuted people. Part of this investigation should include random selection of absentee ballot petitions where the three signatories were contacted and verified.
I early-voted this year and the man I voted for has not dropped out.
In the past, and I am not "that" old, I voted on paper ballot - with a pencil. After polls were closed, the locked ballot box was then driven to the county seat, some 30 miles away, and counted. We knew the winner of elections by the 11 o'clock news.
