Nothing fancy is needed here. The heart of true conservatism resides in our past, when things worked because they were simple. 1.) Go to your polling place on election day. That's singular, not plural as in days. 2.) Cast your ballot. (Also singular, but that goes without saying.) This means that something like a piece of paper has recorded your vote. Put the ballot in a locked box. 3.) If unable to cast your ballot in person, file an absentee ballot.

In the past, and I am not "that" old, I voted on paper ballot - with a pencil. After polls were closed, the locked ballot box was then driven to the county seat, some 30 miles away, and counted. We knew the winner of elections by the 11 o'clock news.

Many years ago I was in Canada attending a conference on their election day. In the evening they had the results reported from the entire country in a matter of hours—and they have 6 time zones. (Newfoundland is half an hour ahead of the Atlantic time zone.)
