The little movie in this link: https://freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity.com/2020/03/04/i-like-ike-and-donald-trump/ attempts a fusion of the thoughts of Eisenhower and Trump.
Does it work?
In the text below the link, I list Republican Peace Maker presidents whom I admire. Any comments? Are there any others I should have included?
What Democrats deserve a mention as Peace Makers?
Which Presidents have been the best Peace Makers?
My Bike Likes Ike..
For those fans of 70s sitcoms :)
Both of the Dems and GOP wanted him as their candidate, because he was such a huge "War Hero"!
His two terms in office were riddle with strikes, a recession, the COLD WAR heating up, and a growing anti-Americanism in South America...with VEEP Nixon being pelted with rocks and veggies on his trip to one of the nations there.
Trump and Reagan are the most similar.
It wasn't even a War, it was a United Nations Police Action and my oldest brother was right in the middle of it with the 3rd Infantry Division. Not being a war you can't have a peace treaty.
Ike and Trump are similar that they avoided war yet cast no doubt of their resolve to fight and fight hard if necessary. Although Ike was more reserved, he oversaw a great peacetime and calm prosperous period where Americans were proud to be American.
The two have very different personalities but their hearts were aimed in the same direction. Ike chased illegals back across the border in a time when courts didn’t throw roadblocks in his way. Trump has had to make a superhuman effort to get a real WALL started and underway while getting the Mexican government to partner with border enforcement. Both knew borders were critically important.
There are many more similarities and I think Trump’s 2nd term could see an Ike-like serenity return to America.
“What Democrats deserve a mention as Peace Makers?”

President Truman made peace with the Japanese, circa 1945.
He imposed peace on Japan in 1945 and in 1951 completed the peace process by signing the Japanese-American Security Treaty which made Japan our ally.
What we got was just an end to the fighting, with no winner, no loser, and the fact that any time N.Korea wants to reopen it, they can! Except that Trump has brought it closer to an actual close; finally.
Ike was really NOT much of a president.
Those weren't Ike's fault. Organized labor in the private sector was at its zenith during these years, so periodic strikes took place. Stalin and Khrushchev were the ones heating up the Cold War, and it was Communists who instigated the mob attacks on Nixon that almost took his life.
What did Ike have to do with those? These events happened in the private sector.
At least there was operation wetback.
Ike was a general. He was used to giving orders and having them followed. Congress wouldn’t cooperate, so Ike spent a lot of time on the golf course.
Yes, I do know about the stinking Commies' interjecting themselves in Cuba and South America! And I was shocked ( yes, even as a kid ), at Nixon's treatment!
Presidents get blamed for stuff that happens during their term/s.
True!
That’s very true; however, he really wasn’t all that much of a “leader”, as president.
Remember this easy axiom: Democrats start wars (military adventurism usually); Republicans end the wars Democrats start.
I love the idea of “Ike-like serenity in America”
