Wife sparks a lively debate on whether it’s sexier for a man to ‘provide or go 50/50' - and the majority of women argue it’s ‘unattractive’ for husbands not to financially support them

A woman has sparked a lively debate online after running a poll on whether women think it's 'sexier' for their partner to be the financial breadwinner, or split the bills with them.

Juliana Stewart, from London, who has been married a year, took to her Twitter account @JulianaStewart_ to ask other women whether they preferred a traditional or modern approach to relationships.

She wrote: 'Ladies, what's sexier?

'A 50/50 relationship is when you split the bills, date nights, holidays, living arrangements, everything. A man who provides means you can work if you want to but don't have to, he knows how to hold it down.'

And while followers replied with mixed responses, the surprising poll results showed that 63 per cent of women out of the 4,000 asked preferred a 'man who provides'.

Honestly, all prenups are pre-divorce plans.

If couples have no more trust in a potential partner, they have no business in getting married.

If this is a second marriage (or more) and children are concerned on one or both sides, a meeting with an attorney and guaranteeing both partner’s children are financially are taken care of by wills and trust account(s) named there is no reason to be unwilling to provide for either underage or even if a partner’s children are no longer dependent.

Beyond that, whether one partner provides all or a share of the couple’s expenses must be settled for the immediate or future needs and subject to change as people’s needs are taken into account.

Sadly, many if not most young couples today place their own wishes above and beyond anyone else and make very poor marital partner subjects.

Power plays should have no place in marriage nor in any other contract relationships.

Whether the power-hungry partner is male or female, this relationship has no chance for future happiness, which should be the goal of each partner before considering a “forever marriage!”

I suggested she institute a toll.

That was a great reply. Too funny.

Another approach is to regard 100% of the money as ‘ours’. Then it does not matter whose account it comes from.

Wife and I have been running that way for 59 years. Works fine.

I hope it doesn’t go down that way. It would be very disrespectful but ultimately that’s between you and her. In that situation she could get half of you and all of hers.
