I’ve long viewed Tom Steyer’s quest for the Democratic presidential nomination as a bad joke. He has never held elective office and was pretty much a non-entity on the national scene before his announcement. He has spent millions of dollars manipulating the DNC’s insipid rules and managed to get on the debate stage, where he’s mostly been ignored. So far, that’s gotten him to 2.2% in the national polls, leading only the lunatic Tulsi Gabbard.
But, of course, we don’t have a national primary but rather a weird system of state-by-state races interspersed with massive votefests on March 3 (“Super Tuesday”), March 10, and March 17.
And Steyer is looking pretty good for Saturday’s South Carolina primary, the last contest before Super Tuesday, which is only three days later.

So Steyer could be the Democrats’ very own John Kasich. I wonder if Kasich ever pauses to realize that, second only to Jeb Bush, he is the man primarily responsible for handing the 2016 Republican nomination to Donald Trump.

I recently read that Steyer’s father served as a prosecutor at Nuremberg. Doesn’t change my opinion of him, just thought it an interesting historical tidbit.
Steyer probably will finish third, and may get some delegates.
His main impact has been to drain black support from Biden, and since he is out-spending Biden each day, that trend may get him a point or two more than shown in the latest poll.
While folks in the poll said they would not be influenced by Nevada results, I am skeptical, and believe that Bernie will get a several point bounce, again at the expense of Biden, that will make this race too close to call.
This state is also a reminder that Buttigieg and Warren are going to get trounced throughout the south, while Sanders will annihilate them in the west.

Yeah, Styer has been dominating the political ad scene in South Carolina, but only in the last week has he spent any significant time on the ground. Bernie likely to win SC with a slight plurality, which will be enough to burn down Biden’s firewall and force him out of the race.

I was in Vegas in late January....Steyer was advertising everywhere....much like Bloomberg did.

I predict the same for South Carolina and Super Tuesday...both Steyer and Bloomberg will have poor showings.

Steyer’s ads are annoying people here in SC almost as much as Bloombergs. Keep those ads going so independents will vote against both just to get them out of the race quicker.
