Perhaps in normal times, Michael Bloomberg's presidential candidacy would have been destroyed by the charges of racism and sexism hurled at him by the other candidates at the Democrat debate on Wednesday in Las Vegas. However, as Conor Friedersdorf of the Atlantic magazine pointed out, in this era of the callout culture, most people will probably overlook those charges because they are so used to hearing them.
Friedersdorf makes the case for this on Thursday's Atlantic website in "Why Callout Culture Helps Mike Bloomberg." The subtitle explains why he thinks the public is now so inured to such charges: "The Democratic base has been crying wolf in matters of racism and sexism."

Dems are panicking and are going all-in on Bloomberg in the hopes he can buy enough support to prevent Sanders from obtaining a first-ballot majority.
In 2008 the Left was calling both Clintons racists.
And we already know Bill Clintons sexist bonafides and Hillarys nuts and sluts defense of Bill.
The issue is never the issue
Another example of crying “wolf” is the “climate change” crowd that claimed the Eastern Seaboard would be under water by now.
Only true idiots get fooled more than once.
I just came across a great subreddit:
Men Kampf (!!!)
The premise is this:
Men Kampf: A journey into hypocrazy.
In the post you’re about to make, replace cis/white/hetero/male people with the Jews and if the result sounds like something that could be right out of Mein Kampf, you should probably reconsider your social justice blogging habits.
So basically theyre pointing a finger at the woke SJW who is ridiculously blaming all sorts of evil on white males. Its pretty interesting.

Upon seeing this threadline I looked around to see if pigs were flying !
So Democrats are now admitting they lie about claims of racism and sexism for political gain? How does this guy keep his job after admitting that? Denying itself is a thought crime.
“Upon seeing this threadline I looked around to see if pigs were flying !”
It seems that way, but nothing has really changed, if you just look a little deeper. This guy in Atlantic is simply protecting what he perceives is in his and Atlantic’s best interest.
And protecting and promoting mini Mike is in their interest therefore the new spin.
Everybody does it (including us).
Will they support photo ID
Nope dead people don’t photograph well.
Democrats have been giving their 'favored ones' passes on racism and sexism for decades. Robert KKK Byrd (D) Senate Leader and former recruiter for the KKK got a pass for 30 years.
Bill Clinton (who was impeached for lying under oath in a sexual harassment case) NOT for 'having an affair with liberal sluts'... is still protected to this day... Friedersdorf knows this... and still assists with stamping 'the pass'...
I’m a racist, you’re a racist...EVERYONE is a racist. So what.
They used up a very large part of America’s goodwill reservoir toward charges of that type on the Kavanaugh Circus - without getting the result they wanted. Future attempts will be less and less successful.
Ya think? When every enemy of theirs is a racist, it kinda loses its meaning.
Casual media consumers are inundated with hyperbolic, frivolous, and slight accusations related to racism or sexism.
Oh, it's been much worse than that for some time now. We are informed that merely possessing white skin makes one an inherent and irredeemable racist, that possessing a penis makes one an inherent and irredeemable sexist, and that possessing a brain that tells you any of this makes you an inherent and irredeemable oppressor. But that's not strange enough - in addition, we are informed that black people can be white supremacists and that women who have the temerity to desire their own rest rooms and athletic events are sexists who hate women.
At this level of hyperbole words cease to have any meaning at all, and we have run the full gamut from social observers who note how people do behave to social reformers who state how people ought to behave to social justice totalitarians who dictate how people better behave or else. That's a long and costly journey down a dead-end road.
