‘Cause the man from Mars stopped eatin’ cars and eatin’ bars
And now he only eats guitars, get up!
And you don’t stop, sure shot
Go out to the parking lot
And you get in your car and you drive real far
And you drive all night and then you see a light
And it comes right down and lands on the ground
And out comes a man from Mars
And you try to run but he’s got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head
And then you’re in the man from Mars
You go out at night, eatin’ cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too
Mercury’s and Subaru’s
And you don’t stop, you keep on eatin’ cars
LOL
lol one comment o nthe site was
“Debbie Harry in her youth was hot enough to be the cause of Global Warming!”
I really like that song. I like all of Blondie’s hits.
I didn’t care at all for the video though. It was likely made for MTV and I often found the videos overdone and hard to watch.
She had the voice, the looks, and the lyrics.
One of the most underrated bands of the 70s 80s
That’s always been one of my favorites from Blondie.
In particular, I like the bells heard during the intro.
Back then, I was still nightclubbing. Everybody knew what was coming when you heard those bells. Some versions of the song were short for radio play, others used extended versions for the dance floors.
Believe it or not this song also makes me think of something else big in the news back then. Remember Three Mile Island?
March 1979. A partial meltdown of reactor number 2 on 3 Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It was the most significant accident in U.S. commericial nuclear power plant history at that time.
Nobody knew quite what to expect. Luckily, nothing happened.
Videodrome.
“One of the most underrated bands of the 70s 80s”
definitely!
Sad thing is her rap wasn’t that even good.
If you actually listen to what she says it goes into gibberish by the end.
Otherwise a nice song.
If you read up on the band, in the beginning she didn’t have a great voice and didn’t work it hard to sound good, and a couple people that worked with her told her she needed some training/work to better her sound/pitch and hit the right notes, and she started to work on it.
Back when we had real music in America.
I met her at a small venue Journey show, mid 80’s in SF.
She was very cool and nice to adoring concert goers.
Tiny brush with greatness.
BTTT
Just a note your most honnorable Leeness...Lesser known but nicer in my mind and more melodic. Blondie was an enigma, nothing made sense....Saw her once doing an interview, she had aged as we all do and did not recognize her. Hope she has a beautiful life and to all FREEPERS as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWhkbDMISl8
