I received a speeding ticket tonight coming up hwy 7 from Ole Miss to Memphis. Since I haven’t had one in ten years or so, I found a few tings interesting:
1. The police were in the opposite lane and must have locked on without sitting on the side of the road with a radar gun. I imagine they have some new stuff that uses their speed against an oncoming car’s speed. Not hard to solve, but I’ve never run into it before. 2. Since it was at night, after I pulled over, I put on the overhead lights, rolled down the window and put my hands on the steering wheel. When the officer approached, he made sure to stay at my 8 o’clock. This is also new. 3. All he asked for was my license. No insurance and registration. I guess those are in the computer. 4.. There was no ticket book. It was a computer printout. 5. The officer was polite and all of my USNA parent and Ole Miss stickers didn’t help. I’m wondering if Marshall county offers a veteran’s discount.

**I have no prohibited weapons.
*What are those in the back of your vebicle?
**A rifle, shotgun and a couple of pistols.
*Are those not weapons?
**They are tools. Weapons are prohibited.
Trick questions LE ask to trip you up. Anything you declare a weapon is a felony.
Several LE tried their best to get me to declare my firearms as weapons. One was DEA.
That was mph, you should see the morning rush hour going into Toronto in the morning from Milton Ont. into Toronto, 100 mph will only put you in the second fastest lane out of 8 lanes each way. It’s really something to see when a meat hauler from western US states passes you in the fast lane. Cops make it abundantly clear they do not interfere with rush hour traffic,it was causing to many multible car wreaks.
He was likely using a laser, not radar. As regards to staying at your 8 o clock, it’s the defensive position that offers him the best response time to incoming threats and the worst shooting angle for the driver.

Back in 89 when I got back from Germany, I still had my German international driver’s license. Going on the highway from Las Vegas to Reno, I was doing 85 in my ne Ford Probe Turbo. I handed that to the cop that got me and he didn’t appreciate it.
Another Germany story. I bought a new 88 Daytona CS turbo from the PX and had it shipped to Bayonne after driving it around the autobahn. After I picked it up I was going down the Turnpike and looked at the 55mph sign. I was doing 100 or so. I decided to slow down. It was an autobahn habit. The turbo waste gate would dump at 135 or so and I was used to driving it on the edge.

The “gun” they are pointing is probably lidar, which is a laser they bounce off specific cars and is extremely accurate.
That’s what I thought about the 8 o’clock.
I was driving on the NY Thruway. A State Sheriff blew by me on the left. About a mile or so ahead, he pulled over and then pulled my car over.
He was able to detect my speed from behind, as he passed me. It didn’t matter that he was going 20 mph faster than me. Prick.
Why should you get a military discount for speeding ticket? If you break the law, being in the military really shouldn’t make a difference.
Police are revenue agents now. Throw the protect and serve out the window. I would rather be held up by a gang banger for $100 than face the state for $250 for hassle and my own safety. Cops making traffic stops for 250 act like the are approaching armed druggies. Picking angles, hands on gun, nervously fidgety. If it’s that impotent raise taxes otherwise fire them.
I am 100% certain that most police are useless. Had a break-in on my property where 5 guns were stolen. Cops didn’t want to come out, take statements, do any investigation. Perps cut hand on window, left blood all over crime area .... cops even looked at me like I was stupid if I asked if they would collect any evidence. The answer was NO. Later that same year got a speeding ticket for 62 in a 55 on Christmas Day.
Therefore my opinion is cops are useless and blue lives really do not matter. Green lives matter. Wherever they can get the green cash is what matters.
F’im. I hate cops. No respect for the profession. Don’t blame it on politics. Cops suck, raided up 85 IQ, power crazy idiots. I have a few other stories. I’m a clean cut law abiding citizen. I don’t like cops. My 85 year old mother who had never done a illegal thing in her life has had issues because she is a night owl (insomnia) has had issues with cops harassment. Screw them. I know the criminals in the area. If the cops were given a 6 week layoff, I can guarantee crime would drop 90%.
I exempt county sheriffs and their org. The do good. But city cops - flush them.
Got one in GA in April. I had a Mass State Trooper on the car. My son is a trooper. He asked me about it. It works in MA, but not anywhere else.
I think he thought I was lying. What a miserable prick he was. Condescending and all “yankee this, and that” bullshit.
I can help his football team could not hold a 25 point lead. I said that to him after gave me the ticket.
The interesting thing was the ticket didn’t have an amount on it.
I had to go to their web site to see it.
I called my son right after. He was going to call, but I told him not to bother. Now, almost every GA car passing by him gets stopped. They carry a lot of weed.
Re: the overworked clerks. Twice have I paid a speeding ticket the next day, like ASAP in the morning. Neither one showed up in the system. And hence never showed up to my insurance company.

Most State Patrol outfits have had in-motion radar for quite a few years now. I always see OSP going the other way, cutting through the middle and lighting up some guy on the side I’m on.

The police in NJ can scan a plate and the window sticker and know everything they need to know within seconds including firearms permit (if you are lucky to have one). In Maryland they specifically scan for those who own firearms.
I went through the same thing. Show up at court,
they dismiss.
One time I got pulled over for havening my left foot on the dashboard!(long drive and 40 years ago when I could actually do it)
The cop pulled me over was laughing. No ticket.

Intrusive? That’s an understatement. I had Waze at one time. It was wanting to update and it was wanting to access my Contacts list.
I said no. No with a bunch of four letter adjectives. I deleted that app.
