The number one story in the news in Great Britain (and a major story around the world) is the apparent abandonment of the Royal Family by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, better known as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The story obviously has a strong personal element, but it also strikes me as emblematic of our time.
The British monarchy is not just ancient, but profoundly old-fashioned. It is founded on a concept of duty, exemplified by Queen Elizabeth II, that is utterly at odds with the 21st century. Being a Royal is a great job, most would say, but it inherently involves sacrifice. The major Royals devote a great deal of time to public service, and the Royal Family is supposed to be above politics.
Meghan Markle, on the other hand, is a perfect exemplar of the 21st century. An American actress, she is, to begin with, a woman, this centurys favored sex. And not only is she very good-looking, she isthe golden ticket of the 21st centurymulti-racial. And, a child of a time in which nothing is above politics, she is a highly political animal.

How can the royal family be sexist when the boss is a woman? They also changed the succession law to allow the heir to the throne to be based on birth order alone, instead of birth order and sex.
Meghan wants to become a Hollywood star. Harry will become a sad drunk. Not complicated.
Meghan Markle is an ugly racial Mutt, and Harry is a Red-Headed Stepson; good riddance to both of them. Move to LA and wallow in the street poop and coming disease epidemic.
Good analysis in the posted story. Thanks.
Reading a bit about this woman, it’s easy to understand why much of the British public hates her guts.
Obama is “advising” the couple, no doubt to recruit them for the next Obama Foundation scam: a criminal swindle masked as a humanitarian cause.
In that pursuit, they will take lessons from the Clinton Foundation’s Haitian earthquake fraud.
Stand by for more outrageous behavior from the Megxit couple and their Obama and Clinton friends.
“The British monarchy is not just ancient, but profoundly old-fashioned. It is founded on a concept of duty, exemplified by Queen Elizabeth II, that is utterly at odds with the 21st century.”
All good stuff to have in the mix along with all the modern stuff.
Markle has admired Clinton from a young age and even wrote to her when she was just 11 years old to demand her help with getting a sexist ad for dishwasher soap taken off TV. At the time, Clinton was the first lady.
That relationship has been resumed now that Meghan is famous:
After Markle opened up about the struggles of being a new mom in the public eye, Clinton expressed her sympathy and respect for the royal.
Oh my God, I want to hug her. I feel as a mother I just want to put my arms around her, Clinton recently told the BBC.
She continued, I want to tell her to hang in there, dont let those bad guys get you down. Keep going, do what you think is right.
Ugh....
The DNC can deny all they want but there are pictures and financial records proving they think they can influence the royals by cozying up with MEghan. It’s obvious the DNC made a huge mistake after this last week and now trying to distant the organization from this train wreck. That’s not to say they won’t be spooning again in a couple weeks.
MEghan could have done a hundred charitable works and still get her brand out there with no hint at politics. She thinks she is a designer (despite not having any input into her wedding gown). Ok, fine. Develop a school for young British designers. She wants to write, then promote young authors. She wants to cook, then go into villages and promote farm to table young chefs. She wants to educate the little people about climate change, then stop flying every other day and stop hiding out in 11k sq ft mansions owned by shady characters -— oh, wait, hmmm.
Sure, the royals are racist but threw this black non-Brit a lavish wedding and the next king walked her down the aisle, let her eat at their table, lent her historical tiaras and the Queen even drove her dogs around London.
Steve Hilton covered this mess on his program last night. He had Tammy Bruce, Lisa Booth and the black guy on who does the segments on the street - forget his name. They were all in agreement about Meghan being a “royal pain” except for the black person. Sorry but I just can’t think of his name - I don’t mean any disrespect. He’s not on regularly - just does the “man on the street” questions.
He said that he didn’t understand the animosity toward her, that she’s a great actress and everyone LOVES HER. Why on earth didn’t one of them say that most of us had never heard of her before? Why pretend that she was important to anyone before she met up with Prince Harry?
I said on another thread that her father and her sister were right about her...anyone can also see that her mother was all too eager to get noticed so no wonder Meghan has such a high opinion of herself.
Just my 2 cents!
Meghan Markle will be remembered as as actress who, when given the best role of her career, brought down the house.
Prince Harry resembles another royal loser. Hank the 8th. The original founder of his Queen for a Day routine, until that new queen lost her head.
All good ideas for her to busy herself with but she’d rather trade on her “color” - settle in Africa etc. Apparently she doesn’t have a clue WHERE she wants to settle. She went into the marriage without any question at all about living among royals - she got the fancy wedding, didn’t she? After that, it’s all up for grabs according to her - she owes no one anything in her mind! Just take and move on.
Why on earth would Oprah or the obozos care what happens in her life if she wasn’t HALF black?
“”Its obvious the DNC made a huge mistake after this last week and now trying to distant the organization from this train wreck””
I missed that - what was that about?
She’s slightly above average in looks IMHO. Inside and that is what counts she’s ugly to the core.
Very good!
“she is, to begin with, a woman, this centurys favored sex”
Favored only in the media’s ever spellbinding, ever fictional, dramatization of our lives.
“Inside”; that’s what I meant. Thanks for clarifying for me.
