And in no state do local governments have the prerogative to declare a state or federal law unconstitutional without involving the courts.

Fascinating! So this guy also sees "Sanctuary Cities" as unconstituional, RIGHT??!!!!

The Battle Of Athens survived legal review: https://www.americanheritage.com/battle-athens#5

Therefore, Second Amendment sanctuaries could, too.

If 2nd amendment ‘sanctuaries’ don’t hold up, then immigration ‘sanctuaries’ definitely won’t.

Those now condemning 2nd Amendment sanctuaries will have to eat their words when it comes to Immigration sanctuaries.

Putting aside that county militias, unanswerable to the state, are just as unlawful as private militias, the recklessness of the Oath Keepers’ call should be alarming not just to gun-control advocates but to gun owners. Raising local militias to forcibly resist state law goes far beyond stating an intention to oppose or not enforce new gun-control legislation.

They are not doing anything different than ANTIFA. They certainly have not been as violent. Is Antifa illegal too?

* "Their proponents misunderstand the clear constitutional limits on gun rights."

Wrong. The governments misunderstand their clear Constitutional limits on restricting gun rights.

Then maybe it's past time to force the issue and challenge the whole legality of restrictions on gun rights to begin with.

The politicians do not recognize that the Constitution does not give us our rights, it simply restricts their actions from interfering with ours.

I don’t think they get how this armed defiance thingy works. Hope they get a good lesson soon.

“I remain very optimistic that our General Assembly will not pass the proposed bills. Obviously, if passed, there are many of us willing to challenge these laws through the courts. In addition, if necessary, I plan to properly screen and deputize thousands of our law-abiding citizens to protect their constitutional right to own firearms.” — Sheriff Scott Jenkins - Culpeper County, Va.

The elected sheriffs in our country are, as a group, one of our most valuable resources in protecting freedom.

The real problem with this from the standpoint of gun owners is:

The gun owner will be OK when dealing with the sheriff who has joined the sanctuary movement, but a traffic stop by a state trooper or any other encounter with an LEO from a jurisdiction who has not joined the sanctuary movement will result in an arrest or other form of a hard time.

The point being that as you move around the state on your daily business, your exposure to persecution changes constantly.

If crazy Northem’s bills pass, I will never set foot in VA again.

the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

One is not like the other...

"Their proponents misunderstand the clear constitutional limits on gun rights."

How does "shall not be infringed" impose any constitutional limits?

They’ll hold up better than the immigration sanctuaries.

And if they don’t the civil war begins.
